Popular Post webfact Posted June 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2022 Picture: INN Thai media INN reported from Korat or Nakhon Ratchasima where they said that Thais were unwilling to ditch their masks. This despite the new rules that came in last Thursday just before midnight scrapping mask mandates and leaving only advisories about crowded places and certain companies who might have their own rules on entry. At Central they reported people walking in to get jabs including children as young as 12 up to those known as 608 who have underlying health conditions. Some of the latter were getting their 5th jab. So far 2.6 million jabs have been administered in the NE Thailand province with 78% having received a first jab, 72% a second and 31% a booster. As evidence of the reluctance to ditch their masks the media went to a local shrine popular with tourists where most people were still wearing them saying that the virus was still a threat and it was better to be safe than sorry. Popular Post Photoguy21 Posted June 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2022 If they want to wear a mask then they should. I took a walk this morning, no mask and 99% of the Thai people I passed wore them. I dont think you can expect anything else considering the fear they have been made to feel. 9
Popular Post ChaiyaTH Posted June 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2022 Doubt its even about being scared for covid and much more for hiding their faces and enjoying being anonymous. They are quite anti-social nowadays (specially in the big city like BKK). Many likely even see the benefit of avoiding sun tans too, as of the white skin obsession. Obviously the old people might still fear it, but they fear anything that isn't traditional and 200 years old. 5 1 1
jonclark Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Give it a few months and everyone will ditch the masks. A slow start is to be expected but once people get used to the idea again it will become normal again. 2
Popular Post IamNoone88 Posted June 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2022 They need a (many) big signs at Central to say masks no longer required and the removal of the overzealous security guards tbat jump on those not wearing them ... and then 7/11 and the airports. If you want to wear ... "up to you". 7 1
Popular Post Lemsta69 Posted June 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2022 who is that loser in the video? he can't pronounce Pattaya properly and is clearly a bit of a big girl's blouse if he can't handle wearing a mask for a few minutes. I'm kinda tired of hearing "Westerners" try to impose their will on this place. they wouldn't like it if I went to Pommy-land and complained about their silly soccer matches and their warm beer now would they? ???? 9 9 8 4 3
John Drake Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Walking around my suburban Bangkok village and across the highway to 7 Eleven and the market that is also there, I wasn't alone this morning in going maskless. Probably less than a third of the crowd. But definitely a difference from last week 2 1

Folks in Asia have been wearing masks since way before Covid, and it was not because they were forced to wear a mask. I wore masks here in BKK prior to covid on the bad PM 2.5 days, and so on. The masks will always be worn to some degree and extent, but as usual you like to bash on the way people live life and use derogatory terms to describe them. 18 2 1 7 5

How is he trying to impose his will on Thailand? He's following the directive that allows people to go without a mask outside. He took off his mask after emerging from a 7 Eleven. Looks like a fluid, coherent report to me. 20
Popular Post wensiensheng Posted June 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2022 Who cares if people wear masks? Personal choice. So long as I can choose not to do so as my personal choice. a pretty silly story tbh. I mean, some people trousers and some wear shorts. So what? 17 1 2

Only outside can be mask less now…..if you want. perhaps I misunderstood 3

His view on it being a heard mentality instead of his true understanding of why masks have always been worn is one issue he has wrong. The mask removal posting also did not remove mask wearing 100%, and that is where people like the man producing the video are still trying to impose their own views. When you do not look at the totality of the gazette postings, like schools still required, concert goers still required and Areas with large groups still required, people make the wrong assumption..... 5 1

People seem to forget the real rationale for mask wearing and get all wrapped up thinking that their God-given rights have been violated. 8 1 1

He says Pattaya correctly, listen to how the Thais say it and read how it is written - พัทยา That is how the guy says it, so many westerners pronounce it as 'Pa-thai-ya', or something like that, which is not correct. 3 1

Popular Post vinci Posted June 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2022 they don't talk about it doesn't mean its over, its still spreading like wildflowers, wearing a mask is not going to harm anybody, if a doctor and nurse can breath through it so can anybody, but i know what can kill you, hey you do you and good luck 4 1
Popular Post Jingthing Posted June 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2022 I'm high risk and intend to mask going forward. I am already being confronted and mocked by moronic maskless westerners who are clearly more high risk than me. Thais are at least polite about this. I think the government could be doing a better job messaging on this issue as we are in a confusing transition phase. I am not dissing the maskless now but mocking the masked by bully f-rangs who have stupidly POLITICIZED masks really angers me. 13 1 2
