Popular Post webfact Posted July 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 1, 2022 file photo for reference only Thailand's Anti-Fake News Center investigated after reports that the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand reported said that all passengers must wear masks on flights entering Thailand from today (July 1st). They discovered that it was true. Although the wording showed it was only partially true, suggests ASEAN NOW. The CAAT had a number of rules related to the ending of Thailand Pass and vax and testing requirements on their site. But they advised that mask wearing on the plane was "recommended" as the cabin was an enclosed and sealed space. Thus it was deemed not fake news though it appeared not to be a stipulation of boarding a flight. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-07-01 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. If you read the article you will see that the translator is quite rightly confused by the AFN Center on this, hence the differing vocabulary used. 1

On the return journey, on boarding at Vienna everyone was told to put a mask on as it was a requirement of the Thai authorities that masks were worn throughout the flight. 8 2 1

ThailandRyan Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 It is a strange world we now live in with absolutely no clarity between government officials even though the new regulations were posted in the Gazette and the majority went into effect today the 1st of July. Seems to me there are many confusions and the PM needs to make a State of the Country Address to lay it all out so everyone gets on the same page. Those of us who want to wear the masks under certain scenarios are not to be called names by those whose moral compass points elsewhere. Today on our morning rounds dropping off items to those we have adopted, was done sans mask, but we had them with us and when entering an area with large groups adorned them. To say the least we were given some strange looks, but even then some of the vendors were maskless as well. Sister and the family have made their flight arrangements and will arrive here at the end of July for a 2 week stay before school starts in the US. They just flew to Brazil and back and no masks were required, but there were a few on the flights that wore them. They of course carried them if they needed them. 1

I still wear mine in the shower. Still it's my choice and I don't understand why people get offended by me wearing a mask. I suppose that the world does need Karens and Kevins to interfere with our personal choices and private lives. 1 1 1 6

Strange, I went back last month with Oman. On the way there everyone was masked. On the way back no one was masked, not even the crew, and hardly saw anyone in Muscat wearing one - not even airport staff. When we landed in Bangkok they made an announcement that everyone needed to put a mask on to exit the plane. Flew to Singapore a week ago and it is was fully masked on the way out and the way back.

If it means I do not fly at all then so be it. Consider this. An airline operator only has a finite number of cabin crew. If just one passenger, who decides not to wear a mask is Covid +ve, there's a chance that the cabin crew could contract the virus and, at the very least have to go into isolation for a week. So how long do you suppose it would be before all the cabin crew was infected and the airline grinds to a halt if no passengers wore masks? I know, it's a worse case scenario, but could happen. The airline have a duty of care to protect their staff, their passengers and their business, so they have every right to insist on mask wearing on their flights. 18 1 8 2
Popular Post ikke1959 Posted July 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 1, 2022 I am wondering what the policy is... wear a mask as soon as they are departed they start serving food.. every one masks off... The virus will sleep than?? and before landing mostly again food or a snack everybody masks off again... How do they think mask wearing will prevent spreading the virus in the cabin?? No food no drinks?? 9 1 2

Etaoin Shrdlu Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 Recently when flying back from the US, after the usual safety announcements including admonishment to wear a mask during the flight, a flight attendant quietly told me shortly after takeoff that it was not necessary to wear a mask in business class. Popular Post Hanaguma Posted July 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 1, 2022 From what I have read, the "science" on aircraft and the virus is that there is really little risk of catching Covid during a flight. Yes, the cabin is sealed. However, the air is constantly drawn upward to the ceiling of the cabin, where it goes through a serious filtration process before being recirculated in the cabin. The IATA does not think it is a danger at all. So masks on planes seem to be more performative theatre than actual precaution. 8 1 1
