BREAKING NEWS ! Boris Johnson to resign as Prime Minister

I would have hoped that having had the Premiership unceremoniously ripped away from him by his own MPs, Johnson would, at least, now be able to act in a relatively normal manner now that he is free from the stress of trying to save his job.

Sadly, based on today's PM Questions, his sacking seems to have pushed him over the edge. He called Starmer "Captain Crash-a-roony Snooze Fest". Nope, me neither.

He has appointed a new cabinet. He intends on going nowhere, 'Caretaker' or not.

How so, do they have a time machine that enables them to retroactively change the law and regulations applicable at the time the photos were taken?

The Police have unequivocally stated:

‘No case to answer’.

How simple to understand does it need to be in order to get through?

Note that the Met also claimed 'No case to answer' on their first sampling of the scant and largely anecdotal evidence of team Boris playing fast and loose with their own rules.

Then along came that flood of photographs...

Sheesh... that's at least five times you mentioned Dianne on this thread alone.

Have you got the hots for  her or what? Should 'Corby' be worried?

(Do you want her number?)

I've already got her number, a fruitcake......????

On that we are agreed. But sometimes she makes a very, very good point.

"It was only in March that all of these Tories were cheering tax hikes in the Spring Statement. Now they are desperate to cut them to save their skins at the next election. "

I'm not into politics I just reckon because of all the media witch hunt was about Bojo and other men a woman not involved in any of it would be like a fresh start.

Was she involved at all much with the partygate stuff if so the media will start vilifing her from the start.

To win the OM post the candidates must attract the vote of the rank and file members of the Conservative Party, who are predominantly old, white, reactionary and relatively affluent.

They are in any sense representative of the voting population as a whole.

Tge next election will be won on policies that address the concerns of ordinary ‘floating’ voters.

I’m not hearing anything from any candidate that addresses the Taft of problems the UK population is facing.

While you may be right about the make up of the conservative party members, it is surprising that Penny Mordaunt - a centrist - is leading with the membership vote

I suspect it’s her messaging on ‘old style Conservative values’.

She’ll need support, the Tory Party are deeply divided, at best this next PM is going patch over the gaping cracks.

Well yes, the last general election showed what the populace thought of the socialists, are you saying your socialists don't have ageing, white reactionary and relatively affluent voters..

Well, you could be right, who wants to be a socialist in the 21st century.....????

As a result, Tory leadership candidates put high value on winning the official support of these titles. In part this is due to the hope that readers of the Telegraph, Times, Mail, Sun and Express may be in the pool of roughly 100,000 Tory members who will select the next prime minister.
