BANGKOK (NNT) - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT ) has said it intends to request a budget of 1.03 billion baht from the government to assist the recovery of the country’s tourism industry.

TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn stated that the budget will allow Thailand to achieve its goal of generating 1.5 trillion baht in tourism revenue this year, despite the fact that the figures only account for 50 percent of tourism revenue in 2019.

According to the TAT Governor, 432 million baht will be used to promote tourism products and businesses, 450 million for the domestic market, 50 million for the Asia-Pacific market, and 103.75 million for the European market.

Yuthasak added that the loan would also be spent to support the airline industry’s recovery, particularly a plan to increase the overall seat occupancy rate for each carrier.

To stimulate domestic tourism, the TAT would also launch promotional campaigns with airlines and hotels to increase flight load factors and hotel occupancy rates.

In addition, the TAT is considering launching a campaign to increase the number of passengers for tour bus operators affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

....and a new pool

Here is an idea. Sack every single one of them, especially those that have made stupid and ridiculous predictions and were totally wrong. Bring a new, fresh team in who can see past their own nose and  see that Thailand has great potential but not the centre of the universe. The possibility of success would be much better that with the current clowns in charge.

TAT...Totally Asinine Thinking

And they have a new thought everyday.

Stop discrimination and dual pricing, stop calling foreign tourists 'dirty', 'reason for Covid', or 'criminals', but take the words 'hospitality' and 'customer service' seriously, and the tourists will come by themselves. No need for 'promotional campaigns' or spending of money...

Maybe they need a new crystal ball and calculator give them a break

They need the money for their plush jaunts around the world.

Khun Yuthasak, here's an original idea... how about foreigners pay double than Thais for airplane tickets? Just like for National Parks. Oh wait, is that ten times?... ooops.

Some how, tourists go to other world destinations without having to be bribed by campaigns and schemes....maybe because they aren't insulted first.

I lived in South and Central America and Mexico for many years.

Never once heard the word Gringo.

Never once had to pay more for anything than a local did.

Never once was told if I wasn't happy with service or product, that I could leave.

Come to think of it, never been called gaijin in Japan, or had to pay....well, you get the point.

Why the big budget (loan?) when the TAT are of the sound belief that tourists will be flocking to Thailand? Given this, it seems a bit of a waste.

TAT (Tourist Assassination Tools). Maybe they can get the money from the coffers of the new Dual Pricing hotel scam. The coffers must be bone dry by now with all of the schemes and such they have put forward.  What I wouldn't give to be able to open up the books and audit them.

Triple charging this double bubble is just not enough with this inflation ????
