A wealthy Thai businessman and owner of a tire and mag wheels shop in Suphanburi was shot dead by police in a shootout after resisting arrest at an Ayutthaya gas station.  

 

Sathit Pathumsuthi, aged 39, had been wanted by the Suphanburi police for the statutory rape of his 14 year old girl friend as well as the rape of another 14 year old who became embroiled in her friend's case. 

 

The man - also known as "Fung Jorakhee" - went on the run after a court warrant was issued following parental complaints in Suphan, central Thailand. 

 

He made it to the Bang Jak gas station on Route 340 in Sam Meuang sub-district on Wednesday evening when he parked in front of the toilets and went in to relieve himself.

 

He clearly was unaware that he was being tailed though it came as no surprise - he was tooled up with a gun and a great deal of ammunition if need be.

 

When he came out of the toilets he was confronted by the police but he pulled out a gun and started firing though he hit no one. 

 

He continued to shoot two or three times as he got into his red plate Honda Jazz and officers decided to shoot back and end it there and then.

 

Thai Rath reported that the suspect was riddled with 20 bullets and dead.

 

Inside the car he was slumped onto the gear stick. He had gun magazine holders on his waistband, a quantity of ice (crystal meth) and thirty other bullets in the car.

 

Still clasped tightly in his hand was a 9mm gun. 

 

An Isuzu at the gas station was also hit in the crossfire.

 

Fortunately no one in that vehicle or otherwise was injured in the incident.

Sounds like a lovely guy, and a real tragedy..

It was a matter of time and he knoew it, in this country you pool a gun on a police you're as good as buried and it looks like he was turned in to a duck in in a shooting range with 20 slugs in him.. good riddnece...

It is interesting how we believe everything.   Not one thing in this article we will question.

 

I don't know the guy, I don't care........But I'm thinking the CIA could wack a falang and do a very similar story.    I do think this story is correct, but it is interesting I don't even question it (of course I do, but not in a serious way).   20 shots seems excessive...and they found meth.  convenient.

20 shots in the perp, another 30 bullets in the car so the BiB fired at least 50 rounds. Was that one policeman fired 50 rounds or fifty policemen fired 1 round each. So many questions, so few answers.......????

I read this as meaning that the rapist had another 30 rounds of ammunition in his car.

I think too that was the intention. Poor reporting states 'bullets' not 'ammunition', 'cartridges' or 'rounds'.

"Honda Jazz" ? Well, that kills the legend about Thai men's attributes.

Police General Mee Bangalottashots expressed his condolences to the owners of the Isuzu, which died despite being rushed to the mechanic shop.

I feel sorry for the Isuzu.

Accused of rape of two fourteen year olds...

Carrying a gun and 30 rounds of ammo. Crystal Meth found.

 

The police did an excellent job of ensuring this guy didn’t get back on the the road, drive like a lunatic into a busy area and risk more lives. 

 

This is clearly one situation where the Thai BiB performed well. 

The guy didn’t need to fire his gun... I don’t think there is anything more to see here than a drug fuelled nutter on the run. 

 

 

 

 

 

Hopefully all of the bullets hit him below the waist line...

He was hit as he sat, sure enough....

 

then Pathumsuthi-ly slumped over his gear shift (which is what got him in trouble in the first place).

I believe that police policy concerning the use of weapons when confronting an armed perp is to empty the magazine in the hope that some bullets might hit the target and at least cause a disability to retaliate 

A 14 year old should never be described as a "girlfriend" of a 39 year old man. Victim, yes. Girlfriend? NO!

Like the old story when the police were asked why they shot him 20 time, the answer, thats when we ran out of bullets.
