Look at the bright side: without engines there can't be break failure

Sure there can be as the engines can not help with deceleration, much like riding down the hill in a soapbox derby racer....

hmm, I thought they use reverse gear to decelerate ships and subs, but I'm no expert

Should have bought Italian subs they were all built with 15 reverse gears, they even had aircraft that flew backwards but nobody else ever found a use for it.

PRIME MINISTER PRAYUT Chan-o-cha was today (July 22) held accountable for a “foolish waste” of the taxpayer’s money amounting to 21 billion baht involving the navy’s planned purchase of a Chinese-built submarine without engine.

Duff subs, duff mine detectors, what else has this guy managed to buy that doesn't work.

Now now...the Gulf of Siam may be too shallow for a sub but it can park up engine less at the sub base China has built in Cambodia.

Or at Sattahip next to the aircraftless aircraft carrier.
