A PROMINENT virologist said in a Facebook post today (July 25) that Monkeypox is a mild disease with mortality rate likely to be less than 3 in 10,000, especially among the most vulnerable, but difficult to control, INN News said.

Dr. Yong Poovorawan, head of the Centre of Excellence in Clinical Virology at the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, mentioned that the World Health Organisation had activated its highest alert level for the growing Monkeypox outbreak, declaring the virus a public health emergency of international concern on Saturday July 23.

All countries were urged to work together to bring this viral disease under control and reduce it spreading further across the globe.

Only if you lick them apparently ????

that mortality rate is very low in comparison to dengue, which has mortality 1/1000.

And that figure is not for vulnerable, but across population.

There is still hepatitis viruses, some 3.5mln chronic (some 5% of population) and probably around 25% of population had acute, albeit mild cases. That virus can lead to virus cancer later on. The majority of liver cancer is from that virus

Fortunately, I have had my monkey pox vaccine over 60 years ago so I can continue to use the dunny in bars.

That's not the mortality rate according to sources like the CDC and WHO.

They put the mortality rate at between 1 and 10% depending on the clade.

Monkeypox outbreak poses ‘moderate risk’ to global public health

The fatality rate for monkeypox is estimated to be between 1% and 10%, with the viruses responsible for the current outbreak, from the West African clade, associated with a fatality rate at the low end of that spectrum.
