........on a motorbike?

Obviously not. Nor in your own car, but if it’s a rule then I’ll stick to it. It’s just a harmless bit of cloth, not a nappy or muzzle or an attack on your liberties.

Is it 2021 again? Thailand seems doomed into a permanent covid craze while most of the rest of the world outside of Asia just moves along. In most of Europe masks were gone months ago. According to some in this forum I guess we are supposed to be stupid for not maintaining a healthy fear addiction for one single virus.

The rest of the world hasn’t moved on, it’s choosing to ignore Covid which is why everyone I know back home is still getting it repeatedly. Here in Thailand it’s nowhere near as bad, life is pretty normal and I do al, the things I did before. The only difference is I  wear a mask. What you call civil liberties normal people call public health

No, we shouldn't. This whole argument about respecting our hosts is ridiculous. We should be showing them the way. It's because of us that single used plastics is finally on a down trend. We have a lot to learn from the Thais but they have a lot to learn from us too.  Their mask wearing is based on fear porn and propaganda. Thai people are less educated and more trusting of the establishment government and media. That's never a good thing.

Come back and make that argument when cases aren't rising.

There is no rule that says you should wear a mask on a motorbike............(there is a rule that says you must wear a helmet)

You would have to be some kind of dumbass if you actually thought that a mask afforded protection on a motorbike......

Masks provide great protection against dust and diesel particulates while riding a motorcycle. That's why people wear them. Don't let religion blind you to science.

Diesel...?

I would suggest many wear a mask and not a helmet because the know the BiB don't take any notice, but it was widely advertised that not wearing a mask would get a waaaay bigger fine. Now a bloke on a bike wiv no mask is a nice earner for the BiB...????

So just how many were doing it before Covid?

I don't mean the Bangkok motocy riders but the bulk of the population in rural areas.......................let me give you a clue - they didn't.

But don't let the facts get in the way of your agenda.

The capacity to learn is a wonderful trait which continues to improve the human condition over time. Is it any wonder that, after being forced to wear masks for some time, people have realised that there are benefits to wearing masks?

The fact that people didn't wear masks much in the past is completely irrelevant, they don't do it now because they are brain dead lemmings despite what you'd like to believe.

Damn, if only everyone got 2 injections to be "fully vaccinated" and then 2 more boosters to be super vaccinated.  Good thing 4 injections and double masks have prevented covid.

Who told you vaccinations prevent infection?

As I said above, the 2,000+ daily numbers of COVID cases the Thai government is reporting these days are ONLY hospitalizations...

A person with COVID can still be hospitalized FOR COVID even if they happen to have other conditions, which a large proportion of Thais do... including things like diabetes and high blood pressure, liver disease, etc.

Having any of those other conditions doesn't somehow negate the fact they've been hospitalized for COVID.

It does if they have been hospitalised for the other reasons and found to have Covid when in hospital or have contracted Covid in hospital.

Is that the rationale you are relying on to explain why so many people go to hospital with covid?

NO that is what I understand from a doctor in Bangkok.

The facts are that millions of people went to hospital because of covid and many of them never went home. Why do you seem to have a problem with that fact?

I have no agenda beyond staying alive. My sister is on some kind of expensive, new drug and has been very sickened by covid just this month despite 4 shots.

Which doctor in Bangkok? Do you have a link to further evidence.

The  argument about whether a person died with covid or because of covid is really very simple. It's only the deniers who have a problem interpreting the issue.

If a person with any disease, including terminal cancer, is determined by a doctor to have died earlier than would be expected but for  complications from covid then they died because of covid, not with covid.

I'm not telling anyone what to do. Leading by example is not telling anyone to do anything. In fact l, I'm totally against telling people what to do. Be it vaccine mandates or even mask mandates. I've been opposed to all that <deleted> from the beginning.
