Popular Post webfact Posted September 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2022 Pumpkin with the anti-Prawit photo. The Thai headline says, “I pity Thai people.” Image: TV Channel 7 TNR Staff A YOUNG German man displayed a photo of caretaker Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan with a red cross over it at the central traffic island in Taphong intersection, Mueang district of Rayong province, yesterday (Sept. 1) and upon being questioned said he did so because he felt sorry for the Thai people, TV Channel 7 said. Identified only as Pumpkin, 35, he had also yesterday displayed the same image at Orchid intersection on Sukhumvit road, Rayong’s Mueang district. Reporters went to interview him and he told them that he lives in Rayong with his Thai wife and the reason he displayed this photo of Gen. Prawit is because he pitied the Thai people who had to cope with a government that did not help. Popular Post Catoni Posted September 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2022 If he is not a Thai citizen with voting rights, he should keep his nose out of Thai politics. No business getting into it. He should keep it to himself or go back to Germany. HOWEVER….if he has obtained Thai citizenship, pays Thai taxes, and votes in Thai elections… then okay… he has the right to complain. 23 3 2
Popular Post George Bowman Posted September 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2022 In her younger days, my wife would often attend various demonstrations in Bangkok and sometimes I tagged along just to take a few photos. The truth is that even after living here for over 20 years, I still don’t understand Thai politics nor do I want to. My wife says it is because my brain is lazy and she may have a point. We were at one such event where several celebrities were on stage with microphone in hand, giving their opinion about some matter while the crowd gathered around. Next thing I knew my wife was tugging on my arm saying “They want you to go on stage.” My initial thought was cool. That would make a great shot of the audience. Luckily, the next thought was that it would be stupid and I waved my hands no. If I had gone on stage half of the Thai population might have cheered. The other 50% not so much. And there is a good chance that someone in that latter group would have the power to put me on an airplane leaving Thailand. Thais only tolerate so much from their guests… 8 1

I congratulate the man for making a peaceful and lawful protest . Most foreigners live here on the cheap and give nothing back to the society . 16 2 6 4

Popular Post kingstonkid Posted September 2, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 2, 2022 There is nothing wrong with telling your wife what you think. I also agree that attending a (1) demonstration is like going to old Patpong, something that you have to do while here. Going u p on stage to protest anything even the treatment of Soi dogs is dumb. The only smart thing that this idiot did was not have a picture of someone else. I have learned one thing about Thai politics and it is a simple lesson. Getting involved in Thai politics is like getting involved with the missus family disputes or a cop getting involved with domestic violence. You are going to be wrong no matter what you say or do. People may to your face agree but watch your back. 6 1
wwest5829 Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Only thing that I would react to would be changes in immigration policy which would threaten forcing me to leave my Thai family. But that would be Thailand's choice not mine. 2

They protested in thousands before the pandemic and brought traffic to a standstill in Bangkok and were attacked by their fellow Thais firing water cannons with irritant chemicals mixed with the water. Before that, their protests resulted in the army taking over, and the legacy of that continues to this day. You can't fight a government with inflatable ducks and mobile phone lights. Nor with a protest photo. I have no idea what this foreigner expects to achieve other than possible deportation or a jail term for 'causing unrest' and being a 'threat to national security'. He's an idiot. Also selfish, as he says he doesn't care if he is deported. Where does that leave his wife? 6

Some of us have lived in Thailand longer than our previous country and believe in assimilation and integration. Some of us refuse to integrate and remain at the same social level as a rubbish scavenger. 4 1
