Well-known Thai rapper and singer Danupha Khanatheerakul, aka “Milli”, will not perform at the Hiphopplaya Festival in South Korea this Sunday due to visa problem.

Milli’s agent, Yupp! Entertainment, said in its announcement yesterday (Wednesday) that the Thai artist’s performance has been cancelled, as the artist and crew are not able to travel to South Korea.

Yuppi also said that they regret the cancellation of her performance and apologise to her fans.

Cultural appropriation, stick to Thai music and leave rapping to the ghetto people.

A Thai rapper going to perform in the land of singers... I guess they didn't need her services..

Should have put vegetable picker on the application  and sung a few numbers standing in a field.

I wonder whether a discreet call was made suggesting that the visa be refused?

The younger generation's disenchantment with the status quo does need to be kept under wraps after all, and this young lady is a major player in this antipathy.

I live next door to a secondary school. Every morning 8.00 to 8.30 music is played over the P.A. system. Some days a teacher is in charge, patriotic ballads; often the youngsters are on the mic - rap is an incredibly popular genre amongst the teenagers, and I suspect it is not particularly complimentary towards the more conservative elements...

Not the home of rap though, luktung/morlam

So, artists should only perform styles of music created in their own neighbourhood? Is that right?
Better tell the Brits to lay off rock n roll, Jazz and blues.  Poor Canadians won't have any genres.

Or was your point more like when Eminem started rapping?
