Antiseptic cream

Featured Replies

What's a good reasonably-priced antiseptic cream for cuts and wounds? Garamycin is effective but at 120b. for a tiny tube is way expensive.

Ask your local chemist for a generic antiseptic ...

The biggest rip-off is Gaviscon ...gerenic anti-acid 40bt

Cogetine 5gm 40 thb on Lazada +40 thb delivery.

Oops this is anti biotic. cream

A local produced alternative: GRAMMIXIN

But does not look overly cheap, saw 85 Baht for 10 gr.

check on cetylphyridinium chloride.

you can get cosmetic grade at 7b/g and make your own cream. That 1g makes some 500g of cream.

But also as spray.

Fucidin is available in large tubes and is not expensive.

OP thinks 120 is expensive. Maybe he is used to Ukrainian prices?

The mentioned creams are mostly antibiotics and shouldn't really be put on wounds (exception Fucidine).

Thais use Betadine, it's cheaper and better.  Is also available as cream but too expensive for OP (i think 130).

Best is medical honey, not avalable in Thailand and really expensive (about 400).

Maybe used to Thai prices where a small tube of some GPO stuff is 30 Baht?

It's 24 baht or 25 in 7/11

But for a 50 gr. jar.

Many creams are sold in tubes down to 5 gr.

Buy generic povidone iodine (equivalent to betadine).

Betadine ticks all the boxes except it stains everything,. clothes, bed sheets.

Are you wanting a anti-histamine cream just to cover a cut or something to take a stink out of a bite?

Washes right out as it is water solubble

Can minimize  the staining by letting it throughly dry first and cover with bandage

My go to is also Betadine, just started a new 30cc bottle, don't know how much it is as she bought it yonks ago, but the smaller one we had for close to 10 years ????

I have been applying urine to all my cuts and wounds the last few years with excellent results, head and shoulders above the overpriced pretenders.  Pain stops immediately.  Healing time is much quicker without any hint of infection.

Mlitary survival training introduced me to this procedure in which you simply apply urine to the wound.  There are no side affects or lingering odor.  A little mouthwash bottle can be filled up for convenient application when required.  It also works on mosquito bites, burns, bee stings, sun burns.

Yours or someone elses?

There's a betadine ointment I use religiously. Last jar I bought was 110 baht for 50 grams. This stuff is magic. I don't use bandaids anymore. Just put a bit of this in the small cuts a couple of times a day and a few days later all healed.
