Police from Thailand’s Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD) have arrested a retired teacher, who is accused of procuring young girls for local politicians and officials in the north-eastern province of Kalasin.

Five men, including a former school director, are also being held in custody for allegedly buying sexual services through the 67-year-old alleged procurer.

ATPD Commander Pol Maj-Gen Sarut Khwaengsopha said that the alleged procurer had about 30 girls, aged 13-15, under his supervision, some of whom are students attending the school where he used to teach.

Wonder what kind of inactive role a child prostitute customer can hold ?

There should be  mandatory minimal charges for both procurers and clients. Something like 20 years would be useful.

Wonder if this is the same story that was on FB an old man on the floor with 15 people kicking the s*ht out of him in a very Buddhist way of course with flipflops????

No names.  Six people.

If you get arrested, they should publish their names.

In this ONE case, maybe 30 underage girls.   What about before?  Oh, first time?

If they're convicted publish indeed.

Paedophelia is an area of abuse that (in my opinion) requires offenders to be permanently separated from society.

Sadly the recidivist rate of those who predate on children is high (worldwide stats).

Some studies put repeat abuse rates as high as 64% (and some [frontline social service workers] say this figure is a 'soft' stat.). To me this heinous 'soul-murder' of a child a no brainer when incarceration is concerned i.e. we have to lock these predators up. Given that child sex offenders show high to extreme sociopathic/psychopathic traits makes (in my opinion) permanent incarceration a necessity, not an option.

Exactly, ALL forms of prostitution are illegal here, not just those cases where the girls are under 20.

Oh the Shock and horror that it is illegal...yet it occurs daily in all venues that are supposedly family venues, well at least in Pattaya.....police there say there is no prostitution....if that is so then what other name would it be given....enjoying a party favor?

Not one person mentioned , does that mean it never happened ...????

with 30 youngsters under the ex teachers control ,you can be sure

they are a lot more out there that need to be arrested , but been

they are local politicians and officials  ,doubt we will hear any more

about it.

That it occurs daily does not make it right or acceptable

And this hard on the heels of the news report out of Pattaya this week of police there busting an under-age prostitution operation in a bar involving 12 to 16 year old girls.

And, eerily similar to a prior episode about five years ago involving the Mae Hong Son child prostitution ring run by a policeman and having local government officials as clients.

According to local news reports, about 8 people including the policeman were finally sentenced to long prison terms in 2018.
