So seems it's true what CNN claimed they were let in. I have to admit all Thai officials ( Civil Servants) in their uniforms look like police. Also there are plenty of graphic pictures and videos on social media inside the building so who made those pictures?

only sick people would want to look at those

OMG, did they really wai? That is terrible, and I would never had done that no matter what. What are they gonna do next, allow Prayut to Ass fuXX them or what?

Why do something so stupid as wai, they are better than that. Let the Thai wai them as foreigners.

Every time I see a foreigner in Thailand step in to a store and wai or wai a waitress I feel embarrassed for them. They are making fools of themselves.

All foreigners need to stop waing Thais.

Did he lecture them? What did he say to them? Do you know? Can he speak English?

Can any of the current batch of snr. police speak English?

I guess they all speak Thai - and this might be helpful while working in Thailand...... ????.

Scum second rate so called journalists working for the biggest fake news station on the planet. A month in the Bangkok Hilton would have been more fitting.

All people need to stop telling other people how to act, and what to do.  You do you, never mind what others do.

Possible scenario .

A Policemen is sent to the school to stop any reporters going into the School .

He's sat somewhere and doesn't notice any reporters going in until they are inside .

He then gets his tape out and tapes off the scene and then arrests the reporters when they exit the building ?

you think a multi-billion dollar company wouldn't have any evidence of this????!?!?!

Possible scenario:   CNN reporters are really undercover artifact smugglers and were caught trying to steal a priceless artifact that happened to be buried at the school.  They all put on an invisible cloak, but some of the cloaks didn't work and they were arrested.  There are still 100,000 people in Thailand invisible to the human eye.  The artifact is still missing and can unlock the powers of the universe if solved.

That CNN apology.

I gotta admit, I've given many FAKE apologies before and this one is really bad FAKE apology.  Horrible acting.    But at least they played the game.

still......they need some acting classes.

You do have a vivid imagination .

Its a known fact that when the reporters entered the school , there was no tape to stop people going in and that tape was there when they exited the school , which means the tape was put up whilst they were inside the school

Surachate said it might have been a case of "miscommunication".

The miscommunication was that health office officers gave them permission to enter when they should not have done so. The reporters did what they were told they could, nothing more. If anyone was at fault, and they were, it was the officers who said they could go inside. Those officers were trying to be helpful, as Thais often do, but were acting in ignorance. As Thais often do.

Hmm.  I don't remember reading about any international news correspondents being booted out of Thailand for covering the Thai cave rescue without a work permit.  Just googled an old story and it said there were reporters from NBC, CBS, ABC, the BBC, and, yes, CNN at the cave site reporting on the story.

2 CNN reporters deported from Thailand for having incorrect visas, not blacklisted

Two CNN reporters, who entered the crime scene at the childcare centre in Nong Bua Lam Phu province to cover the mass killings last Thursday, are scheduled to depart from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport for Hong Kong this afternoon (Monday).

Thai immigration sources said that the two journalists, Australian Anna Coren and Briton Daniel Hodge, are being deported because they held the wrong visas, tourist visas, to work in Thailand, adding that both had already been fined by the police in Na Klang district in the province.

The sources said that the two reporters will not be blacklisted and they can return to work in Thailand, provided that they obtain the appropriate visas, which are the non-immigrant type, with which they can apply for work permits.

How if it has already been put out into the world wide press and viewed.  Not sure it can just disappear, well it can be scrubbed to a degree, but the dark web will have it somewhere forever.

Love the thumbnail photo of the two journalists doing a dramatic and sincere wai. They should be given an academy award. No wnder they were only fined  5,000 baht. After seeing that photo I am positive they will never "unknowingly" break the law again.

First responders?  It won't be the first time, will it, if past experience is anything to go by.

Yes, finally someone said it. It looks absolutely ridiculous when foreigners go around waing to Thai people in daily life. Just be polite like you would back home (hopefully), no need to go overboard. It's the same with foreigners saying "kap khun kRRRap". Don't try and be overly polite in their culture. You end up looking like a fool. Save your wais for maybe senior monks in a temple or perhaps when visiting someone's home if they're considerably old. Otherwise, a nod and a thank you is all you need.

No need to 'wai' anyone, anytime. A polite nod of the head suffices.
