This "survey" showing an average of less than 20 people in every province is not representative or statistically significant and it is worth only ignoring it.

How do you know it's not representative? Did you personally review the participants?

Also, it is statistically significant because as any statistician will tell you, a properly conducted survey with a random selection of 1,000 people, gives a 95% chance of coming within about 3% of the true figure for the total population.

There's not really that much point in going higher because it only reduces the margin of error very slightly.

As the article below about sampling size error puts it:

Quote

But once we get to 1,000, additional sampling error falls only slightly. In fact, doubling the sample size from 1,000 to 2,000 only reduces the margin of sampling error by about a single percentage point.

Margin of sampling error (MOSE)

There are lots of jobs around and anyone willing to work hard can do very well for themselves.

It’s all a matter of mindset and not letting other lazy family members leach you for all you work hard for. Which is what happens in many families here.

I have an retired guy (handyman) always working for me on various projects around my house. Was so hard to find someone, but this guy said yes and has since done loads of well-paid work for me. E.g. he ended up building me a nice pool and hired others to help him. A very smart guy who has made way more money the past years, helping me out, than many young educated Thais I know.

Some Thais are simply just way to lazy and would rather sit drinking and eating, than work to improve their situation.

they was quite happy with lockdowns and actively encouraged them, so you reap what you sow I'm afraid.

You just can not help yourself can you. Do you have anything constructive here or should the Russian tourists be assisting the Thais more here since they are fleeing a war that they do not want to be drafted into. Money doesn't grow on trees here.

3 to 4 million. Not that small.

More like 150,000-200,000. Most are from the North, Chiang Mai, Chaiyaphum. Girls from the NorthEast are usually too dark-skinned. Used to be a few more before they made 18 the legal requirement in 1996. Most of them don't make very much. Most Massage girls only make about ฿1,000 a day, if even that much. Most street-walkers only make ฿3-400 on a good day.

What ism would you prefer?

Socialism works quite well for some countries.

It's somewhat ironic Americans start frothing at the mouth at the mere mention of the term, while being blissfully unaware their taxes fund one of the most socialist organizations on the planet. The US military.

Back on topic, I am seeing quite a few Thais in my GF's village who are giving her their gold to sell in Chiang Rai, which to me is an indicator they are struggling.

Aren't their employment rules that state workers must have a day off per week ?

Bar girl work is easy work and its often difficult for former bargirls to adapt to regular jobs
