Thailand abstained during the UN vote to condemn Russia’s annexation of four regions of Ukraine because it believes that such condemnation, when the situation in Ukraine is escalating, will reduce the chances of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means, according to an explanation issued by Thailand’s Foreign Ministry (Thursday).

 

Thailand is, however, strongly opposed to intimidation or the use of force by one state against the territorial sovereignty of another and to the use of force to annex territory of another state without provocation, said the Thai Foreign Ministry.

 

The United Nations General Assembly voted overwhelmingly yesterday to condemn Russia’s attempts to annex regions in Ukraine.

 

The resolution was supported by 143 countries, while 35 states, including Thailand, China and India, abstained. In addition to Russia, four countries rejected the vote, namely Belarus, North Korea, Syria and Nicaragua.

I wonder if they would feel the same way if Cambodia or Myanmar invaded Thailand. I remember a few years ago Thailand was screaming to the UN over a few square metres with Cambodia. I guess they have a short memory.

Politically, Thailand is a small player on the world stage. It has deliberately not aligned itself with one superpower or another many times. Yes, they have welcomed Russian tourists, who aren't coming these days but they were never enough to lead the tourism boom. Now the Indians are coming, the Indians are coming!

I don't see tourism leading foreign policy.

Nonsense. This is a war provoked by US/NATO to damage Russia. Ukraine - the cannon fodder - can't win. There will have to be a settlement, which will have to include transfer to Russia of the Russian-ethnic areas now in question. And Crimea.

Thailand have shown its real colours by inviting Putin to the Apec summit in November in Bangkok. So Thailand are no longer sitting on the fence, they have chosen Russia to support. Plus of course all those rich Russian tourists and now Russian draft dodgers. All down to money and choosing what they think is the winning side ( Same with Japan in WW2 ) 

The Thai flag should be yellow with white feathers.

Putin's goal is to bring back the old Russian empire. "De-nazify" is just a paper-thin excuse. There are small numbers of Nazi sympathizers throughout Europe and the US (even within Russia and Eastern Europe), and that includes Ukraine, but that hardly means Ukraine is a Nazi country.  The president is Jewish, after all.

 

I just wait for the day when Thailand gets invaded by one of his neighbours (China, Vietnam ...?). The Thai army, only used to fight Thai students and citizens, will run like rabbits.

 

And then? Who will shed a tear about occupied Thailand?

Nobody, because Thailand did not care about the Russian crimes in Ukraine today. Thailand, one day, may have to pay a terrible price for its opportunistic stand today.

BS putin since 2007 warned the west about moving nato east and they did. in 2014 usa organized a overthrow in ukraine Fact. They set up Bio labs and Nato training. They are nazi, even the western media admitted that until a couple of years ago. where did the Nazi go . oh yes  now they are nice nazi.  As for Zelensky he is a puppet  nothing more a cocaine snorting puppet.
