There Pornchai, 25, was found dead from gunshot wounds from a cap gun. Shots had penetrated his head and chest and he was found slumped next to a fence. The man who shot him was Suthee, 51, his own father. He was waiting with other relatives to surrender to the custody of the Ubonrat police, reported Thai Rath. Ubonrat chief Pol Col Direkrit Panreuansean said that the son had pestered the father for money to buy liquor and yaba but he had refused and an argument ensued that resulted in the shooting with a cap gun. Easy for lazy Pattaya falang to say after the fact, but I'll say anyhow. I would TRY to drive my son to one of those meth detox places at the temple or something. I really don't know what else I'd try................ Killing your own son...........OMG, yea...............what a horrible situation. Drinking and drugs won't allow you to accomplish your dreams. Nobody dreams of being killed by their dad while on drugs. 2 1

Google Translate renders the original Thai phrase as "gas gun" but I'm still none the wiser. Anyone know what kind of gun they're really talking about?

tassydevil Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 think they are referring to a muzzle loader,a cap (primer) is used to ignite the powder charge. 1

It may also have been a "sports starters gun" used in events. Some of the blanks have a wad packing to hold the powder shot in rather than a bullet. At close range those can be leathal. But still unclear what a cap gun in this context means. 2

Not necessarily. I know personally of a case or two where the bad kid who's been taking yabba returns to the family house armed to the teeth with knives, etc telling his family that he's running from people who are trying to kill him and he needs to lie low They helped him until the day he asked his father why he was also planning to kill him - that's where it becomes a very dangerous situation for everyone there. When you hear of one of these crazies murdering their own family it's often because of extreme paranoia. As far as the drug addled person is concerned they're running for their lives and have enemies everywhere, which is why they end up seemingly killing random people - it's not random. 3 1

Having checked with a Thai speaker, it appears ปืนแก๊ป refers to an old-fashioned traditional kind of long-barrelled, home-made gun. Here's an example of one from a Thai website. Aussieroaming Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Cap gun? He certainly capped his son's a s s. I think the father needs to spend some quality time in a padded cell.
TheFishman1 Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Yeah I was confused at first about what type of gun it was TIT

Rhys Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Just what is a cap gun? Family dynamics of very lax parenting... accountability lacking or enforced by immediate family.. SAD.
xtrnuno41 Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Thats the second already in short time. When your son turns into a monster..pop goes the brain. Sad.

I can understand dads actions but I don't condone it. I've seen yaba first hand, my sister inlaw had 3 sons, 2 are trying hard to cut out a decent life for their partners and kids. The eldest one was a disaster waiting to happy. He was a really nice guy when he was off yaba but that was rare. Any way he died of a heart attack at 30 years of age. His junkie girl friend produced 2 kids to him and when her 1st BF was released from jail she done a runner. Now my sister inlaw 62 yo has to care for of her sons 2 pre school kids. It's totally destroyed he life and where is her original husband the father of her 3 sons, " it's not my business". TIT. Edited October 21, 2022 by NONG CHOK 1
MrJ2U Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Hopefully more fathers will do the same. These Yaba addicts are like zombies with unpredictable and bizarre habits. Many times becoming violent. 2

bbbbooboo Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Its a pity more yaba, alcohol abusing waste of oxygen types like this aren't disposed of more often. What do they contribute to their family and the community except unhappiness and despair? 1 1

Jaybott Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 My guess is it's a blank or a starter pistol. Below is a cut and paste from an incident that happened in the 80's to a young actor who was screwing around with a loaded prop gun. Unfortunately it took his life. Blanks can and have killed before. *********************************** Who was Jon-Erik Hexum and how did he die? Hexum was an actor who died at the age of 26 on October 18, 1984 after an accident on the set of the TV show Cover Up in Los Angeles. The young actor and model shot himself in the head with a prop gun that contained a blank cartridge.Oct 22, 2564 BE
Skeptic7 Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Son shoulda taken Pa seriously when he said "I'll pop a cap in yo ass'‼️
