Fire Fire Claims Life of Woman as Electrical Blaze Engulfs Bangkok Home
Picture courtesy of Khoasod. A devastating fire broke out in the early hours of the morning of 13 May, completely destroying a four-storey townhouse and claiming the life of a 39-year-old woman. The fire, believed to have started from an overhead power line, rapidly spread through the residence located in Soi Sakae Ngam 3, Samae Dam, Bang Khun Thian district. Police Lieutenant Rattathipok Kaenpitak, the duty officer at Tha Kham Police Station, received the emergency call at approximately 02:30. Firefighters and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation responded swiftly to the scene. The property, which doubled as a shop selling t-shirts and underwear, was engulfed in flames particularly on the first and second floors. Fire crews battled the inferno for around 40 minutes before bringing it under control. One occupant, identified as Mrs Duang, a Lao national and sister-in-law of the homeowner, perished in the blaze. Her body was discovered in a second-floor bedroom, severely burned. Four other residents managed to escape the flames. The homeowner, Ms Chanthanee, recounted the terrifying ordeal, saying she first saw flames erupting from the electrical wires in front of the house before the fire quickly spread and consumed the building. She, her disabled mother and her two young nephews, aged three and twelve, were able to flee. Her mother sustained burns to both hands while escaping. Authorities from the Metropolitan Police will coordinate with forensic investigators to determine the exact cause of the fire. Mrs Duang’s body has been sent to the Department of Forensic Medicine at Siriraj Hospital for autopsy before being released to her family. Police investigations are ongoing. When was the last time that you spoke with a foreigner?
Yeah, that is one of the places that are know for attracting all kinds of people. That will say both Thais and foreigners of all kind and shapes. I live like more out in the sticks. The whole province has a population of about 500 000 people. Actually quite a lot of foreigners around. Most seem to be sensible, have something to talk about, having fun, sitting down taking a beer now and then in different places and sometimes we go out eat together. But, on the other hand, that goes for a lot of Thais I know too, and we also socialize foreigners and Thais sometimes. It´s like a regular and normal nice and calm life. As you say, I would not make it in Pattaya either. Can be fun to now and then just visit for a couple of days up to a week. After that, I am overloaded with too much of everything. Just want to go back home to the sticks and have the regular nice and friendly people around. -

Politics PP Faces Crushing Defeat in Local Polls, Old Politics Thrive
It is true that the people get the government that they deserve and my god, Thai's deserve everything that is coming their way. Here they were presented with the perfect opportunity to change the course of their lives and their kid's lives & they didn't take it. They sold their votes & didn't even have the good sense to say that they would vote for one particular person and then vote for whomever they liked. They seem to lack the intelligence to even do such a simple thing. I have lived here 20 years and they disappoint every time. A bunch of whingers just looking for their next 'free money' handout without the realisation that It Isn't Free. They and their kids will pay for it over time. You get the government that you deserve Thai people & you deserve only the worst that is coming your way. Sickening. 😞
