Daily News Thai Caption: Two deputy RTP spokespeople

The Royal Thai Police - battered by a terrible month of negative press - have turned to beauty and brains to repair their sagging image.

Since Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat took over at the start of October it's been one disaster after another for the force.

Now Damrongsak has ordered that acting Lt-Col (female) Napawan Panya will be a new deputy RTP spokeswoman.

He's hoping that she and another appointment can revolutionize the PR office and give the Thai police a softer, more professional image.

Better known as Look Khwan (a gift), Napawan once strutted her stuff on the Miss Thailand stage in 2010 in revealing outfits.

There are many photoshoots to enjoy on the internet of her many talents.

But it is not just beauty that Look Khwan is known for.

She studied for a PhD in Environmental Management at NIDA and has many other qualifications including in urban environmental planning.

Joinging her on the spokesman panel is Pol Lt-Col Thathep Chaicharnbutr who is the deputy superintendent of Administrative Region 8 of the Central Investigation Bureau, reported Daily News

He has a bald head and a nice smile but lacks some of the charms of his sidekick, notes ASEAN NOW.

Why should someone with a bald head be called a 'beauty' ?

The police, as reimagined by the UK Sun tabloid.

How do you give BIB a softer image when they have been murdering people dealing in drugs and selling off firearms from a Police station. They think a pretty face will do it? Unbelievable.

Repair the RTP’s image?

Sorry, but that ship probably sailed before any of us arrived on these shores.

Nice try.

Next time just go with the horse.

The reputation issues the RTP faces were decades in the making. This is not just about a bad month. More like a bad century.

If they wanted to improve their reputation they could start with practicing that strange and exotic thing called law enforcement. Next, they could move on to traffic safety. In other words, start doing all the things they don't do, on a daily basis.

Though pleasant to look at, nobody is going to be fooled by a pretty spokeswoman. As usual with the RTP, it is all about empty gestures.

The acting ( but quite convincing) Lieutenant Colonel is indeed pleasantly easy on the eye.

Ooh chaps, PR is in the pooh again, how about we stick a pretty girl in front of the cameras? It has been tried to my knowledge a couple of times before.

She will however need more than charm and good looks to repair the damage done by the collection of grim faced, hard eyed, self enriching and utterly blind to justice creatures who run things!

I notice that she is not para trained - I could be persuaded out of retirement to offer jump training...

"has ordered that acting Lt-Col (female) Napawan Panya will be a new deputy RTP spokeswoman."

so she has expertise in "acting" or being a "female" ???

and is her "acting" rank dependent upon her "female" status?

or is she just "acting" the role of "female" but is really a bald male?

So she is educated but how much actual police experience does she have?

It doesn't say how old she is but how likely is someone of her age and experience is going to get to the rank of (acting) Lt Col ................

A tarnished reputation is a bit generous. The RTP are symbolic of the endemic corruption and nepotism that the foundations of this society are built on.

Why not? I'll have you know my looks have no bounds.

You mean you would kick her out of bed because of her nose? Just can't please some people.

If this were a locale where the "pickings were slim," as it were, then perhaps not. However, just the opposite is true here in LOS. ????

Bring-out the pretties, Thailands answer to everything.

Talents that are used in the RTP?

Why not dismiss and jail the policemen and women who have tarnished the RTP's image ?

Surely that would be a more credible way to move forward in any repair process.

No shortage of beauty in this country. Brains, uhh...not so much. :coffee1:

But first they would have to get a Thai translation of the above so that they know where to start.

If there is one thing you can consistently rely on, it's the RTP and their unsurpassed image-tarnishing ability

Being a WOMAN in the RTP she WILL DO exactly has she is told. Might have beauty but BRAINS well being Thai, no logical thought or even critical thinking . But normal subservience to her boss in most ways

Why the long face?

...is what I'd ask the Lt-Col.

Inappropriate remarks and responses removed.

You may not like or even agree with the article etc, but there is absolutely no need to attack an individuals appearance.
