Nightclub goers tested positive for drugs in Pattaya entertainment venue crackdown, passport inspections for foreigners to continue

Pattaya – Four nightclub goers tested positive for drugs in a Pattaya entertainment venue crackdown.

 

More than 50 officers led by Major General Nantawut Suwanlaong, Acting head of the Chonburi Provincial Police randomly inspected entertainment venues in Pattaya to check for the current seven major rules which are:

1. No allowing underage users below 20 to enter bar and entertainment venues.

2. No selling alcohol to underage users below 20 in any venues including restaurants.

3. Entertainment venues must be shut and all customers gone by legal closing times, currently between midnight to 2AM depending on zone.

4. Selling alcohol over the legal time is prohibited at all venues.

5. Allowing weapons and illegal drugs into entertainment venues is prohibited

6. Allowing human trafficking in entertainment venues is prohibited.

6 Allowing illegal gambling in any venue is prohibited.

Major General Nantawut told the Pattaya News that they first inspected ‘New Season’ on Pattaya Third Road where lots of Thais and foreigners were drinking. Some of the foreigners were unable to present their passports and they were taken to the Pattaya Police Station for questioning.

WHAT? The police actually tested people for drugs? A pee test I hope and not a blood test.

 

"5. Allowing weapons and illegal drugs into entertainment venues is prohibited"..... I would have assumed they meant to not allow people to carry drugs into the venue. It sounds like if they have drugs in their system already the venue is supposedly breaking the "rules". So I guess these days a person has to show their ID and then pee in a cup to be allowed in.

Pattaya —  Pattaya police on Sunday raided two nightclubs in Pattaya, noting that at least one had a license discrepancy but stating no other issues were found. This is part of a daily campaign cracking down on nightlife for what police say are security and safety reasons.

 

Pattaya police led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Nuntawut Suwanlaong, acting Commander-in-Chief of Chonburi Provincial Police, continued an intense, regular inspection of entertainment venues early this morning, November 20th, to prevent illegal activities.

 

Pol. Maj. Gen. Nuntawut revealed to The Pattaya News that he randomly searched two nightspots including Fin Up located in Soi Buakhao, Pattaya, Chonburi, where many pubgoers both domestic and foreign alike were drinking inside.

I am trying to highlight that this is not about the police selecting foreigners in this case, which is something many complain about here. A Thai filled 'disco' gets raided, could I care? I bet the airport is busy tomorrow.....

I am surprised, that the Louis Vuitton store on Avenue des Champs-Élysées or Prada Milano Galleria Donna on Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II lets Thai customers sink money by the 10-wheeler withOUT passport checks. 

But then the customer base as well as the retailer segmentation is slightly different ..... Passport into a discotheque?

Whwn I read the replys I have just the feeling for some people they want, here in Thailand, they can do everything they are not allowed to do in they home country.

- I your home country you also must be able to identify yourself, by a legal document as an ID card, Here in Thailand you have to do this, as foreigner, by a legal passport.

- In your home country it is also not allowed to serve alcohol to underaged people.

- in your home country it is also not allowed to use certain kinds of drugs

- in your home country it is also not allowed to carrie weapons in public

All of this, when they control it in Thailkand, it is NOT DONE for some people.

What do they want? A lawless holiday destination? In case it would be as this: they can complain there is no safety or no law in Thailand..... please stay home, we don't need you as 'Tourist', if that is what you want,

Excellent way to end up as a guest at the cop shop. I'd certainly "inconvenience" you for as long as possible if I were a Thai cop and a farang spoke to me like that.

They deserve whatever penalty they get.
