webfact Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 video screenshot By Katelyn Polantz, Casey Gannon, Hannah Rabinowitz, Lauren Koenig and Kristen Holmes, CNNWashington (CNN) — A federal judge declined to hold former President Donald Trump in contempt of court in a closed-door hearing on Friday, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN. The sources also told CNN that Chief Judge Beryl Howell instead pressed the Trump team and the Justice Department to work together to find a mutually agreeable resolution. ABC News first reported the judge had urged the teams to resolve the matter themselves. It's funny. When the Trump Organization was found guilty on all 17 counts and fined 1.6 million, it was portrayed by Trump supporters as at worst a nothingburger and at best some kind of victory. But when a motion before a judge is denied, it is treated as some kind of important defeat. 7 2 1

Actually, what's humorous is the obliviousness of Trump supporters to the fact that the reasons for the slow pace in getting Trump tried is that his lawyers have managed very successfully to slow down the various investigations. But the delaying tactics are coming to an end. 3 2

Yes it is humerous, but don't expect any of them to see the joke as it's on them. Quite a long list of what was going to happen when he lost, including being served with divorce papers, and fleeing to Russia etc. It's a grey day here, but at least that headline cheered me up. I'm now waiting for the next session of congress when the old committees get the order of the boot and Jordan gets to head the one that matters. 2 1 1

Popular Post ozimoron Posted December 10, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 10, 2022 I'm not sure quite why the right are seeing this as a victory. The judge made no ruling as to innocence or guilt here. The FBI can now proceed straight to arrest and indictment if they wish. 1 2 1

Actually the contrary. This is the judge telling DOJ to stop pussyfooting with the case and just indict Trump. Judge has an indirect message for DOJ to forget about asking for documents because Trump has and will never be honest with his lawyers. Indictments are on the way. 1 3 2

The Court essentially put the order in abeyance to assure necessary steps in judicial fairness are first attempted, ie., dependent and prosecution work out some declaratory language. Likely defense will refuse to cooperate (at Trump's direction) for of declaration such as 'the documents are all personal property because I took them', respond in some obstructive manner, thus further justifying the order. This process will only follow a week at best before the prosecution goes back to the judge to say 'mission impossible.' 4

Imop Time for garlands goons to go judge shopping! Maybe Judge Amy Berman jackson . Imop https://www.foxnews.com/politics/federal-judge-declines-hold-former-president-trump-contempt-court-classified-material-battle You're confused, It was Trump's lawyers who went shopping for a judge. It's how that found the extraordinarily incompetent Aileen Cannon. As for the current judge, he didn't rule out contempt in the future. He just told them to keep trying. And, it's obvious why no lawyer wants to be the one responsible for certifying that no more government documents are in Trump's possession. One claimed that previously and got badly burned after the FBI found a plethora of documents at Mar a Lago. I wonder who told her that there was nothing left to find. 3 1
Popular Post Tropposurfer Posted December 10, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 10, 2022 Old news: What is now recent and far more cogent ... and which is only given impetus by his organisations being found, across the board, guilty of entangled and connected crimes re tax and other frauds is the Special Federal Prosecutor Jack Smith (last 24 hours) filed contempt charges against Trump re; the investigation pending prosecution of Trump in regard to the J6 insurrection he is heading up. This is a checkmate for the Orange freak and one he can't get dismissed or delayed by him. Add to this the bag-load of federal subpoena's for high ranking Republican operatives across the nation by Smith in the last few days and things aren't looking good for the treasonous co-conspirators of J6, right the way to the top of that rotten tree. What is also of very pressing magnitude for the fraud, thief, and traitor Trump is the NY investigations into his NY tax fraud which now has a new prosecutor appointed by Melvin Bragg. Not to mention Letitia James' tax cases in NY State which are very advanced solid and indicate criminal charges for Trump himself, his family, and open court for them all. Both these tax investigation and what appears to be a inexorable pathway to open court trial on very serious tax fraud charges for both, which carry tens of years in jail as commensurate penalty if found guilty. It also appears that through Letitia James investigations and the recent appointment of an embedded 'monitor' of all Trumps businesses in NY State means (if he is indeed as guilty as many observers, and pundits say he is) his capacity to do any business ever again in NY. This will bring lawful disqualification, under any circumstance, that will see him unable to conduct any form of financial wheeling and dealing in NY ever again, not to mention the pending garnishing of over 250 million dollars from his ill gotten thievery. The stinking stigma that will come from. this will brand him forever. He will, if convicted, be persona-non-grata to banks anywhere in the USA. His capacity to do backroom shady deals with foreign lenders like he did with Deutsche Bank and the Saudi's and god knows who else will be impossible. Any money that comes to him, through any entity, will immediately be flagged and seen by the Fed's and NY Sate officials. Then there's his own daughter just (today) being given what appears some sort of immunity from prosecution in exchange for what legal pundits say almost certainly means she's flipped on her own father and will give information on him to these investigations in NY state and NY city so she doesn't go down with his defrauding ship in the next short while. Happy trails Donald the Consummate Scumbag. 2 2

The organization that put Trump in the White House by re-opening the HRC email investigation days before the 2016 election. 5

Well said, the justices / justice processes must ensure there's full balance, laid doen processes are fully followed and fairness. In this case it doesn't mean the rump is innocent.
