Elkski Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 45 mil for a plate. Wonder what the closest bid was? Surely not 2 entities willing to bid so much 2
Popular Post realfunster Posted December 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 12, 2022 Imagine trying to launder USD 1.5m through a government agency... It seems even the criminals here are promoted based on nepotism and connections, rather than brains. 2 4
Popular Post ikke1959 Posted December 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 12, 2022 If people can and are willing to pay so much money for a license plate, I think something is very wrong. While other people have to struggle to make ends meet every month, a daily minimum wage of not even 350 THB a day, it is just shameful to show off with so much money for a license plate... It doesn't care were the money is coming from, it is just shameful that there are such rich people that they can afford it 12 5 5

Popular Post RichardColeman Posted December 13, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 13, 2022 OK, so why not have a new law that every bank account is checked on all sales in the country over 5 mil - oh wait, it may be clogged up with government employee accounts 3 3
Popular Post ThailandRyan Posted December 13, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 13, 2022 What's lucky about bidding milli9ns fir a l8cense plate....to me its a money maker for someone's pockets and nothing more. Money laundering at its finest. 3 2
Lucky Bones Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Seems fair to me. If I had 45.09 million baht to spend, what else would I do?????????
Popular Post Elkski Posted December 13, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 13, 2022 Where is the picture of the pretties? Maybe the plate came with it's holder? 2 1
Peterw42 Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 This isn't a story about number plates, its an advertisement for laundry detergent. Expect to see the guy on TV, pointing at a box of FAB, with a caption "its the brand I use"
Bangkok Barry Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 In the real world people invest millions in art. In Thailand they spend money on 'lucky' numberplates. If I had that kind of money, I think I'd rather use it to look at paintings rather than a car numberplate, but each to their own I suppose. BTW, I've always been told that all Thais are poor and that justifies double - or in the case of government rip-offs - 10 times pricing.

It's the same with 2nd hand amulets which can be very expensive; the buyers never question the fact that all the previous owners are dead. 1
crazykopite Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Can see big fat brown envelopes being handed around
renaissanc Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Money laundering would explain why he paid so much for a number plate when the world will be in a recession in 2023 for goodness knows how long. When China invades Taiwan the recession will be mightily long, so his investment will be wasted.

toofarnorth Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 What is the value of the vehicle it will get attatched to , isn't this where plates are supposed to be ?

Scouse123 Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 They must have upset one of the Thai Generals in the hierarchy who had his eye on the plate and thought his bid would win!????

I really do not understand why people complain about amount of money spent do you not realise this money is going to be spent on road safety. I believe government has already ordered 15 ornamental lamp posts for nana with tourists in mind also so no more complaints that you didn't know she was a he 3
Mickeymaus Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 It is worthless now. Obviously this number brings bad luck. Better buy amulets ???? 2

You don't know that they are traded by collectors and investors?
