Boris Johnson Questions the Effectiveness of 'Medieval' Lockdowns in Covid Fight
Johnson has only one priority, Johnson. He can’t be strong on anything, least of all anything that requires making the right decisions for others. He blows with the wind. -

Police Face Disciplinary Action for Mistaken Car Shooting in Trang
The Trang Provincial Police Commander has ordered an investigation into the officers involved in mistakenly shooting at an innocent driver’s car during an attempt to stop a suspected vehicle carrying an M16 assault rifle. The incident occurred on the morning of September 29, 2024, at a junction in Huai Yot Road, Trang. Police officers from the Muang Trang Police Station had been pursuing a white Suzuki Swift, believed to be transporting illegal firearms, including an M16. However, they mistakenly shot the tires of a silver Nissan sedan, which belonged to an innocent civilian. The actual suspect's vehicle escaped during the confusion. In response, Provincial Police Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Patrawit Keetamoniyakul confirmed that an urgent factual report had been requested, and a disciplinary committee will investigate the involved officers according to the regulations of the Royal Thai Police. He also assured that the affected civilian would receive appropriate legal compensation under existing regulations. The investigation aims to determine responsibility and prevent future errors of this nature, reported Daily News. -- 2024-09-30 -

Destination Thailand Visa Sparks Interest, Faces Future Hurdles
They really opened the barn door with the low requirements to apply for DTV. Really ridiculous that one could apply for an 5 yr visa after making a dentist appointment. I think changes will be coming by early next year if not sooner. -

First UK Lawmaker Resigns from Labour Party, Accuses PM of Hypocrisy
A rare quality in any mainstream politician, It might be evident, in a few newcomers to the house, but their sense of self interest soon teaches them to keep quiet Has Starmer responded to her resignation letter yet? That should be interesting to say the least -

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)
That link is not working. If you mean the 2009 movie with Kevin Bacon, it's pretty much everywhere. -

Horrible Offensive Trump Commercial
It's accurate, in a way. Harris has done nothing in her role as VP. Nothing. -

What's it =really= like: To be DEEPLY in love with a bar girl? Do you know?
If you would have left that bar girl as soon as she went with another man, your heart wouldn't have been so broken, and you would have had the opportunity to find a regular girl, and might still be with her, as most of the women in Thailand aren't, and haven't been bar girls. -

Baht strength - How long?
It's why I get my UK pensions paid into Wise. They remain in sterling until I need to exchange, and hopefully at a better rate. Plus the £ against the Philippines peso is way up at 74.98, and as I've elected to move there for 6 months of the year to get the pension rise and avoid Thai tax if it ever comes in, seems I've made a better decision than some I've made recently! -

How to retire in Thailand
Size isn't that important (or so the GF says 😛) but I couldn't live anywhere with her that didn't have at least 2 bathrooms! Aside from that, location is my main consideration... Couldn't live out in the sticks as I no longer drive (license expired 11 years ago) & don't like living in the middle of busy towns (Though On Nut wasn't too bad) but do need to be close to a major town for all the usual amenities, I found Wongamat meets my requirements as best they can be met in Thailand.
