Maybe it's just me and my age, however what I will say is that I thought that Robert Downey Jr was excellent and I didn't recognise him until at least halfway through the movie when it suddenly dawned on me who it was! I did watch the documentary on it a while back, however it didn't spoil the movie for me one bit.

It took me a while to recognise RDJ and it was a good performance by him. I also watched the documentary and enjoyed that as well. Blue Muton
Those of you who enjoyed 'Band of Brothers' and 'The Pacific' will probably like this new one from the same stable 'Masters of the Air' but you'll have to wait until January. 1

Popular Post recom273
Fargo is back! I downloaded and started watching Criminal Code, all was looking promising, then I got to the end of what I thought was the first episode and it ended at some sentimental scene, I was wondering where could the show go from here? Then I realized I had just watched the final episode. Doh. Another show getting good reviews is Stan’s Scrublands Pacto De Sangre,a Mexican crime / drama / mystery may be worth a watch, not too sure yet. LosLobo
Perhaps to demonstrate the 'usefulness' of the topic here, perhaps we should start a thread: What did you have to resort to fill the gap during the week hiatus? I binged watched 47 episodes of Island of Bryan (TV Series 2019– ) - IMDb It was quite enjoyable, though maybe not everyone's cup of tea. 1

xylophone
I sought out a few older movies to watch and one which I have seen before and wanted to watch again was, "Dark City" which starred Kiefer Sutherland, Rufus Sewell, William Hurt and Jennifer Connelly, and I've always thought this was a bit of an underrated masterpiece, because whoever thought of the premise for this was nothing short of a genius IMO. I did notice Richard O'Brien in it, and he played his part very well, almost on a par with his part in the Rocky horror picture show! I also watched one on BBC iPlayer, called, "The Sense of an Ending" with the excellent Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling, and although slow-moving, it was a good watch, with an ending that I didn't foresee.
Popular Post Yellowtail
Saw "Napoleon" today, and while I enjoyed it, it was disappointing. The battle scenes were pretty good, but I thought Joaquin Phoenix was pretty weak and the some of the dialog and a number of scenes were pretty silly. 2
Popular Post gargamon
The second season of The Lazarus Project has dropped. Since I had the first season (unwatched) on my NAS, I decided to watch a bit of it before downloading season 2. Wow, intelligent science fiction for a change, without all the CGI crap. Rated 6.5 on IMDb, but don't believe that, most there want CGI and marvel nonsense. Highly recommended. Oh, and the main antagonist is the guy from Strike, Tom Burke. Popular Post oxo1947
Really enjoyed this one----- IMDB gives it ...8.4/10 The write ups give it a 10/10 It was BAFTA Award winner 2012 4 part Ch4 Drama series---- not a Doco--- its a 2011 release I got it from Chaos---but I see Pirates is still running it after 13 years. Also you can get some episodes through YouTube The Promise The Blerb--'The Promise' shows how Israel was born in violence & how the violence is maintained in the present day. Around this Kosminsky has drawn a gripping storyline of the granddaughter of a soldier in the British Protectorate searching out the mystery of her grandfathers story. Thus Erin, the granddaughter travels modern Israel while her grandfathers story shows late '40s Palestine & the birth of Israel. I do not give 10/10 lightly but 'The Promise' has earnt it as absolute top quality viewing 1 1

Popular Post Mike Teavee
If you enjoyed Squid Games (I did), then Squid Game:The Challenge is even better. I’m watching it on Netflix (well worth the 169b pm for subtitles when the GF wants to watch her Thai Soaps) but am sure it’s available everywhere. The Devils Game is a similar concept, again I really enjoyed it but only because I love logic puzzles. PS for anybody who enjoys (Sudoku Related) Logic puzzles or Cryptic Crosswords, “Cracking The Cryptic” channel on YouTube is awesome - Need to try to keep the grey matter sharp in retirement 👍🏻
