At the turn of the century, having been divorced a number of years and not impressed with caucasian women generally, I was watching a channel 4 documentary in Uk, on "Thai brides" , and thought, why not !

Contacted an agency in Bangkok, never been to Thailand before, they met me at the airport, chaporoned me for week.Gave me a folder of many Thai ladies and asked me to pick 6.I did and over the week kind of interviewed the  6 and reduced to 1.

 

I stayed in a relationship with her for over a year, we separated from what later was discovered as a total misunderstanding and translation issue. Great girl and was sorry to have lost her.

 

No longer a virgin to Thziland and its somewhat unique  offerings, I travelled back n forth many times, before arranging to meet a girl via a dating website, "date in asia" , met her in Udon Thani, been married 17 years ! 

Best decision I ever made relationship wise.

 

It obviously depends a lot on what we want.

 

If I would want a normal woman in my age group who has a decent job, then I wouldn't look in a bar. 

 

But if I want a pretty young cute girl then it is unlikely that I will find her at work. And even if I would find such a girl at my work then probably she wouldn't select the (almost) oldest guy in the office.

 

I would look in bars and other places for girls who just started in that business and who are shy and who like a nice lifestyle but who are not yet used to bar business. If they don't know a word of English that is perfect. Take her out, make her happy, and never let her return to the bar - at least not alone for an extended time.

 

What do YOU enjoy doing or a place you enjoy being? Go there, do that. She will show up - don't be shy.

The word 'girlfriend' in Thailand can be interpreted differently.

Rent a gf is available everywhere around the country.

 

A true love gf, might be very easy before we reach age 45-50.

After that it's a downhill futile search, as thai women seem obsessed with younger men.

 

Easy only if she less than 10 years younger than yourself.

 

If one belive in the formula 'your age divided by 2 and + 7', the search will last a very long time, when age 55+.

 

Some friends and myself tested many options in the poll. No clear winner here, but at their work and simply by coincidence, was easier than the other option in the poll.

 

Wanting a normal women without former experience with foreigners, and little or no english (we all speak thai at different level) we thought the countryside was a obvious advantage, we was so wrong. None of us found a gf when we lived up north.

 

Most of us are still single, and we will egerly follow this topic, if men age 55+ share their secret with us - in the search for a non-pro normal working women who have 'true love'.

 

Until then, we believe in by coincidence as the easiest way to find the one.

Survey is flawed because it does not include the weekly fresh market as a primary option.

 

Girls at the produce markets are often stunning but they are practical, good cooks, good with money, not pretentious and not coated in layers of makeup.

I see where you might have failed.

 

Women who have experience and know english, is better options for happy life. My two cents

 

Also age vise not to young, and do not care to drink to much. If the woman drinking thai whiskey and coke, there is a no go! Hopefully she have learned some western culture and enjoy a few glass of wine, but thats it.

 

When you visit her home, and her friends shows up, abd you are the one who pay the lao kao, thai whiskey and the food! You know this is a no go unless you enjoy it as much as them. Good luck ????

55/2+7=34.5

As far as I see basically all Thai women over 30 think they are old. And that means they are not in a position to make demands.

If a guy is not totally ugly/poor/stupid then he should be able to find a 30+ Thai women.

And there are enough of them because most guys don't want old women. ????

Im quite surprised none checked the shopping mall or marked. I have been approached so many times by girls in shopping malls around Thailand, either by a group of girls or just a girl out with mom or an older auntie. Some excuse themselves and ask if they can talk to me so they can practice their english as their opening line, except from where do you come from, and next do you have a gf? 

Well the good thing is you don't have to look like Brad Pitt or Kianna Reeves for example.

But not only is Keanu Reeves a good looking guy, he is an incredible human being.

 

Rich, yet modest.

 

Lives in a regular apartment, rides the subway, incredibly generous with charity.

 

A lot of us should try to emulate him, the world might be an awfully better place if there were more Keanu Reeves.

Definitely not central Bangkok ????

Go to any establishment that is bar, restaurant market coffee shop or wherever and sit down. Then place your very fat wallet (you can add some paper to make it thicker) on the table. You will have a girlfriend very quickly. 

Learn the Thai language and be very familiar with their culture first.

That's exactly what I did.  I didn't actually look for her in the bar.  She called me to join her as she entered the bar.  I couldn't take my eyes off her for the next ten days.  She didn't want to return to the bar.  She would have worked elsewhere if I didn't support her.  It's been almost ten years.  We make each other very happy.
