Popular Post webfact Posted January 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 9, 2023 Picture: Sanook Sanook reported on a Facebook post by the chief of the Thai cultural affairs department Dr Apinan Posyananda. The doctor was furious along with many art lovers after an albino water buffalo at the Bangkok Biennale 2022 art show was destroyed. It was "Kwai Calm" by artist Maitree Siriboon. Dr Apinan said that several German and British tourists were "having a great time". He named one 34 year old Brit for allegedly destroying the buffalo after climbing on it. Then he said the tourists refused to apologize or pay for the damage. The buffalo is being kept in a crumpled heap for a few days so people can say goodbye. The incident appeared to have happened on Friday and it was unclear as to what police involvement had been. One Thai commenting under the name "Kritchai" on Facebook questioned whether a Thai would be let go if they couldn't pay compensation. The art show entitled Chaos: Calm continues until February 23rd. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-01-09 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post ozimoron Posted January 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 9, 2023 This is the cultural hegemony that gives foreigners the idea that they are superior to Thais and don't have to behave the same way as they would back home. Refusing to apologise or pay compensation is the clue. 18 2 2 5

Popular Post cdemundo Posted January 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 9, 2023 "British people are known for drinking a lot of alcohol and being noisy." Nasty people are known for drinking a lot of alcohol and being noisy; not just British. I have not noticed any particular nationality having a monopoly on this type of behavior. Maybe I am just not observant. 8 2 2
Popular Post ChaiyaTH Posted January 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 9, 2023 For once in Thailand, it will be a doctor instead of a bar girl, going around asking for donations of the hurt and sick buffalo. LOL. 9
Popular Post Emdog Posted January 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 9, 2023 Before deporting and fining, give them at least a few weeks at one Thailand's nasty prisons. Give them a truly amazing Thailand experience. 6 2 4 1

Damages would mean civil court. To be honest, what is the damage actually? As far I see just the horn that can be glued back on it. 2 2
Popular Post HuskerDo2 Posted January 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 9, 2023 But in the picture there is a poor little white haired man whose legs are 2 meters from his torso. The buffalo appears to only have a broken horn. Where is the outcry for the man with no legs? 2 1 3
shackleton Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 If they know who they are ask for a contribution or take it further with a police report to pay for the damage ???? 2
Photoguy21 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Now that is a sick buffalo. Surely it can be repaired to look new. Shouldn't have to I would agree but there are always morons around to prove you wrong.

Not when you understand the deep rooted fear and xenophobia for Westerners that is taught in their education system. Should we despise Thais for shooting 71 year old men in the back because they can't control their emotions? 6 4 1

Simple is arrest them hold them in cells, and fine them the cost of repairs and or 20 days in Thai detention. A perp walk that is videoed and reported by all the Thai and international news agencies. Let people in their home country know how stand-up a citizen they are. 1 1 1 1

swm59nj Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Just more quality tourist in the land of smiles. Maybe when they apologized they forgot to Wai.
