A north eastern couple who live near the border in Sisaket scooped big on the state lottery yesterday.

 

Wilai, 35, and her husband Rattaphon, 38 won six million baht with the number 812519.

 

They chose 519 because it is the number of Rattaphon's new motorcycle. He had a dream that it was stolen.

When Thai Rath arrived at their house in Ban Non Daeng there were twenty well-wishers who came to share the good news. 

 

They all live in an out of the way area in the shadow of Khao Phra Viharn. 

 

The media described the couple as the new millionaires in the village.

Only 20 ,it must not have gotten around yet , well wishers or looking

to borrow money , they should follow rule No. 1 , don't let anyone

I wonder how long it will take before they realize that 6 million is not as unlimited as they might think.

And now they'll discover to their utter surprise how many new relatives they didn't know they even have... 

I wish them well.  It’s enough money to improve their lives.  Hope they are cautious with those “well wishers”. 
Even though they might not use it very wisely.  They have more money now than some expats will have in a lifetime.

True but not for them there story of new bike reg is sponsored by Honda. The less people have the more they proportionally  gamble.dreaming .I just hope the casinos are never legalised or it will be carnage for many

I'm happy and sad for them at the same time. I told my wife if she ever hits the lottery, please give me time to get a flight to my home country before she tells everyone...

I told my wife not to tell anyone, and she said she will.

 

But then, she won 1k and she was on the phone for days on end to tell everyone, so in the end her phone bill was higher then the money she won

This was six months ago approx and free drinks? Yes water we have plenty 

 

That 6 mil will be gone in no-time ,  Auntie Noi wants a new house because the roof leaks, Uncle Ton needs a new Rice harvester because the old one has seen better days and Cousin Nok needs a new car as her old one is broken down.   That's just a sample of things to come ....   multiply that by twenty times and it's all over red rover.  This time next year they'll all be on the Lao Khao again buying more tickets ..... 

If they live 40 years more, then the 6 million is equal to about 410B each day, for both of them together.

Hopefully someone does that math for them.

I know they could invest it and all that. But the 410B sounds very different than 6 million.
