  • It does matter. I am no expert but in Europe you might get 5-8 years in prison. In Thailand more like 25-30 years.

It barely matters what country you are arrested in. You never want to get caught smuggling a quantity of drugs. It has to be the worst nightmare, and it has to lead to alot of thoughts of "what on ear

Just Google it dude. The punishment for smuggling drugs, such as cocaine, into Thailand can be severe. It is considered a serious crime under Thai law and can result in lengthy prison sentences, or even the death penalty. The specific punishment will depend on the amount of drugs involved and the circumstances of the case.

I would not disagree. Wonder how many work for the triads (Master Xi), and the CCP.

Are we looking at another quality tourist entering Thailand which they are so desperately after ?

When are the people here waking up ?

For sure I know, some can’t be helped !!

Is that boarder or border? Stagged or staged? Still, at least you and her have one thing in common. Neither of you is Chinese. You watch a lot of "border security" TV programs? Are those programs the sources for your figures? Most are Asians? 90% Chinese? Any links?

There used to be signs in the Taiwan airports warning that smuggling drugs was punishable by death.

I don't think they have been up in recent years so maybe laws there have changed.

Look at the picture of what she's wearing.  Not exactly a jet-setter, but more working class/tribal person.

Her travelling by herself is going to set-off all sorts of alarms at immigration and call for a "further search".

Poor woman, nobody's going to care when they throw her away into prison.

Probably get the same, but that 5-8 would certainly feel like 25-30 in a thai prison.

I'm still for making drug smugglers eat their wares, but it would not be 'humane' !

Not a "poor" woman. Just one drug courier less.

"She was searched after landing as officers received a tip-off of a suspicious person. The cocaine was found in a laptop bag that she was carrying."

I first came to Thailand 01-01-1978 and have been back many times since but I have never been stopped by Thai customs, not that I've ever been carrying anything illegal.

Japanese Customs guy stopped me in Okinawa (business trip on a flight from BKK & open return date for my flight). I was 34-ish. He asked (in perfect English) if I had any cocaine or heroin with me.

I don't even smoke weed.

I started slapping my pockets and said "Nope. I'm fresh out. But if I did have some, I'd share it with ya. Then we could both get high".

He just looked disgusted at me and said "You can go".????

If she flew from Doha I would imagine she flew with Qatar. Why was she not searched in Doha? Or was it because she was wearing the Hijab so was allowed through at Doha security?

I was stopped at Canada customs for sexy Thai VCD. They looked curiously at Nong Natt and other sexy star, but they let me have it in the end.

There will never be any shortage of poor people prepared to take risks.

Also it should be noted that hundreds of millions of people worldwide, in all walks of life enjoy using cocaine.

At one point I would say at least 70% of my friends were using it as (one of) their party drug(s), now we are older and some of us party less the numbers have dropped, but many still use it from time to time.

The only people I know who are really against party drugs are really old people who never enjoyed any kind of party lifestyle when they were younger and are still brainwashed by the anti-drug messages of the 50's and 60's.

We are all adults we should be able to choose how we want to enjoy life.  If people want to have fun with party drugs they should be able to make that choice.

Some people just don't learn after decades of warnings around the planet + airport etc, Governments warnings visa about drugs couriers ! Or Uzbek people dont have any access to news or warnings let alone she.got through Qatar ? Setup sting  & maybe CCP ciminal organizations Triad opps ! how they hec she got through her own countries airport security paid???????? or she was one of many others who got through thai airport security & into Thailand possibly she was the sacrificial lamb?

remember when it was Nigerians? Had so many Nigerians in Klong Prem the annual prison soccer game changed from Internationals against Thais to Nigerians against Internationals and Thais.
