Give Taksin a few extra years behind bars for doing a runner!

Please try to learn how to spell.

Thaksin Shinawatra is spelled Thaksin.

OTOH Taksin normally here in Thailand refers to King Taksin the Great.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taksin

King Taksin the Great (Thai: สมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช, RTGS: Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Maharat,[c] listen (help·info)) or the King of Thonburi (Thai: สมเด็จพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรี, RTGS: Somdet Phra Chao Krung Thon Buri;[d] simplified Chinese: 郑昭; traditional Chinese: 鄭昭; pinyin: Zhèng Zhāo; Teochew: Dên Chao;[6] April 17, 1734 – April 7, 1782) was the only king of the Thonburi Kingdom. He had been an aristocrat in the Ayutthaya Kingdom and then was a major leader during the liberation of Siam from Burmese occupation after the Second Fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, and the subsequent unification of Siam after it fell under various warlords. He established the city of Thonburi as the new capital, as the city of Ayutthaya had been almost completely destroyed by the invaders. His reign was characterized by numerous wars; he fought to repel new Burmese invasions and to subjugate the northern Thai kingdom of Lanna, the Laotian principalities, and a threatening Cambodia.

  • In a way I agree with Jatuporn.   However I do believe that he should be given a retrial with a neutral and completely unbiased judge and justice department.   At he same time ALL

Interesting. Thaksin’s arrival back in Thailand is going to be bigger than The Beatles. Massive outpourings of affection and much much smaller, but no less intense, sprinklings of hatred.

  • And what punishment would you give the military generals for staging a military coup against a freely elected government?

500 baht fine and a double Wai.

I would have thought death by a firing squad for treason would be more appropriate, but no last cigarette as it is bad for your health.

He won't be returning.

These waves of tabloid gossipy speculation is what they're looking for.

Distractions and sleight-of-hand are beneficial for their cause.

Agree. Do not pass Go, but straight from the plane to jail. He's already been convicted, I understand.

I hope they have a nice comfy spot in a thirty prisoner room waiting for him.

You understand very little.

Go read To Kill a Mockingbird.

Then you will understand.

...and he'll be arrested on the spot.

Actually, the Thai society would be much better off without the likes of the Shinawatra gang. They can do better if their hearts are in it.

He’ll be returning as the father of the new Prime Minister, he’ll be fine. When he does arrive back in town, Thaksin will probably go watch Avatar at the local IMAX (large popcorn and coke - exorbitant cinema concession prices are also of no concern to Dr T).

another farang who knows better than the thai people who actually voted for the Shin gang in a landslide ....but of course their votes don't count because they don't have their hearts in it....and the powers that be can overthrow the will of the people with a nice illegal coup....

it is so simple...let the thai people vote for who they want to and then honor the results of their vote without a bunch of jacked up charges pursued by a bunch of generals and their wealthy backers who themselves illegally seized power.

Nothing self-serving in this statement by Jatuporn.

By a kangaroo court run by the people who made the illegal military coup against him.

Hardly unbiased justice.

And you believe the current lot are better than Thaksin, who in 2 free elections was voted into power, and then current lot couldn't even win one election without frigging the results.

You can't reverse a case which has been decided by the supreme court.

Appeals may be made on points of fact or law.

Or seek retrial under the Thailand Re-Trial Act 1983. Grounds that there were political interference and that he was not present in court to defend his case.
