Pattaya, a popular tourist destination in Thailand, is now close to pre-COVID levels of tourism, according to the Pattaya Tourism Association.

 

The Association stated that many hotels, restaurants and other businesses in the area are now operating at near full capacity.

 

The Association attributed the increase in tourism to the Thai government's efforts to control the spread of COVID-19, including the implementation of strict health protocols and the vaccination of key workers in the tourism industry.

 

Additionally, the Association noted that the Thai government's decision to allow fully vaccinated tourists to enter the country without quarantine has also played a significant role in the resurgence of tourism in Pattaya.

 

However, the Association also acknowledged that the tourism industry in Pattaya is still facing challenges. For example, many tourists are still hesitant to travel due to the ongoing pandemic, and the lack of international flights to and from Thailand is also affecting the number of tourists visiting the area.

 

Despite these challenges, the Association is optimistic about the future of tourism in Pattaya.

 

The Association stated that it is working closely with the government and other organizations to promote the area as a safe and attractive destination for tourists.

Additionally, the Association is also encouraging businesses in the area to continue to implement health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both tourists and local residents.

 

In conclusion, Pattaya's tourism industry is now close to pre-COVID levels, thanks to the Thai government's efforts to control the spread of the virus and the decision to allow fully vaccinated tourists to enter the country without quarantine.

 

However, the Association acknowledged that the industry is still facing challenges and is working closely with the government and other organizations to promote the area as a safe and attractive destination for tourists.

Pattaya Tourism Finally Rebounds to 80-90%, Says Business Sector

Pattaya — Pattaya tourism is on a fast track to pre-pandemic levels due to the return of tourists from various countries, said Damrongkiat Pinijkarn, secretary-general of the Pattaya Entertainment Association.

Damrongkiat said that the entertainment venues in Pattaya have started to see hustle and bustle from Indian, Hong Kong, Chinese, South Korean, and European tourists, although tourism has yet to recover fully.

 

Tourism is now at 80-90% compared to the pre-pandemic levels. Damrongkiat said Walking Street is the most popular place in Pattaya, but it still needs more workers, as more than 90% of the venues have already reopened.

More tourists = Must raise prices as there is so much demand.

 

Less tourists = Must raise prices to make more profit from less sales to make up the difference.

I wonder how income compares to pre-covid levels? I still hear alot of businesses complaining things are way down. And it is likely a portion of the tourists are domestic travelers, who don't seem to spend as much.

 

Pattaya is close to Bangkok. Samui is still struggling, and I hear Phuket was very busy for the holidays, but alot quieter now. And Bangkok? I saw hotel prices drop by as much as half, starting Jan. 10th.

 

Anyone have any real info and truth, instead of the tourist business garble?

Pre-COVID … It was on the down and probably one third of tourists … TAT at their Stats again

Pattaya is crowded right now and the Chinese tour groups are just getting started. More Russians are also likely to arrive. Anyone thinking it's going to drop off are probably delusional.

Wrong. In the middle of Covid, prices were considerably lower.

Prices for many things in Pattaya are significantly higher now than they were 9 months ago when I came back. Show me a restaurant that doesn't have stickers over the old prices on menus.

So let us ignore the fiasco of requiring vaccination certificates that was introduced for 2 or so days and simply pat each other on the backs and blow kisses at the Government (for getting it wrong, causing great confusion and ultimately cancelling things and doing simply nothing!).....

By the way.... if Pattaya is full.. no point letting any more in!

There are many bars and restaurants without anywhere near full occupancy in the main eating and drinking evening hours.

 

Tour groups, especially chinese ones don't spend money eating and drinking as their meals are pre paid in China, as well as their visits to attractions.

Current reality is certainly a lot better than many on this board predicted pre high season. All the talk of how Pattaya wasn't going to recover centred on the high cost of airfares and cost of living increases that were already in play. The absence of the major tourist markets Russia and China was another common reason cited. 

 

As it turns out none of those doomsday scenarios seems to have caused a noticeable effect on the recovery, the high level of Russian visitors now seems to be more of a concern than their predicted absence and no doubt the same will be true of the Chinese market in the coming months.

Fortuantely, I haven't noticed a drastic increase in the number of double-decker tour buses blocking main roads again.

(I think a lot of them are still parked in various fields as the owners have been living in them and can't afford to fix and clean them.)

Lots of traffic though. I miss the "covid days" when the streets and intersections had a quarter of the traffic they do now.

And many of the tourists are "looky-lou's". Walkers and gawkers. Hordes of people meandering along the streets giggling and taking photos and buying - nothing.
Take a gander at the bars and restaurants (and malls) around the city and you'll notice that they are population almost exclusively by one demographic.

Plenty of others on the streets, but not spending money in the businesses along those streets.

Just like it was before.

Bearing in mind that most countries around the world have had little or no controls for very many months now, I suggest that most travellers don't give Covid a second thought and consider it a given that it's safe to travel. The decisive factor is whether they have the money for foreign trips, not that Thailand has done a great job controlling a virus while at the same time a large proportion of the population are still too scared to remove their face mask.

Old prices are not sustainable given the increase in raw material costs across the board.

 

Try finding a tin of baked beans at 2019 prices....

Can only comment on Chiang Mai earlier this week.

Loads of real tourists around, a couple asked me why so many business (of all sorts) are locked and shuttered.

Went to the bars in Loi Kroh, again half are closed, and the open ones mostly empty.

There were a couple of busy bars, but most were more girls than customers.

 I live in a Thai area of Pattaya where there are probably 7 hotels that catered to the Chinese tourisits. Including 3 hotels right behind my house where buses used to run non stop. They are all closed. Yes the town is busy and traffic is bad but not to pre cpvid levels

Here in Hua Hin Plenty of tourists  the hotel we are staying. In is full 

Plenty of good vibes here 

Will visit  the night Market for good BBQ seafood ???? 

Before we depart back to Bangkok

In the article picture, lots of beach goers but none in the water. Huh. I guess they are afraid to get hit by something.
