Patong – An intoxicated foreign tourist was caught after he was trying to steal a jet-ski from Patong Beach, attacked a jet-ski caretaker, and tried to escape.

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that they were notified of the incident after noon today (February 24th) on Patong Beach. They arrived at the beach to find the intoxicated foreign tourist who had already been caught by beach lifeguards.

Beach lifeguards told police that the foreign tourist was trying to steal a jet-ski. Beach lifeguards and the jet-ski caretaker saw him and they tried to stop him but the tourist attacked the jet-ski caretaker before swimming away from the beach.

Beach lifeguards and the jet-ski caretaker on jet-skis followed the tourist about one kilometer from the beach before catching him.

...he may have thought it was cheaper to jet-ski home than to buy an expensive plane ticket.

I hope he did'nt scratch the jet-ski!

I guess he should declare himself lucky that he is still alive. Maybe he can also still walk.

Get ready for lots more theft on Phuket as the Russian's meagre savings are depleted.

Probably a typical tourist that couldn’t afford to rent it

He wasn’t trying to steal it…he wanted to test drive it first b/f renting

it was an all understanding

From link to OP:-

The identity of the tourist was not revealed by Patong Police although some reports from associated Thai media said the man was a middle eastern tourist.

No explanation of why they needed to transport him in a gurney.

I suppose he "fell down" in the hard sand a few times while the lifeguards were apprehending him.

Hmmm drunk Muslim.  Go figure...

He's got the trifecta

Drunk, assault, arrested

Just needs to be injured to get the royal flush

Not sure about being able to walk. The photo shows him on a stretcher.

With respect, a reference I discovered on Google:-

"We have traveled we know the world and have friends from other countries thus our minds are more open. Islam like many religions is outdated in many of its traditions. We don't really think god will punish us for having a beer or more with friends"

https://www.quora.com/Why-do-Saudi-and-Qatari-people-drink-alcohol-in-western-countries

I shall not enter into any discussions about religious beliefs. My sole intention was to post the above reference. Thank you.

Definitely a candidate for sobriety.

Ugly incident to say the least.

I says in the report he was taken to Hospital for "Psychiatric examination.

If he was drunk he may have not known much about what he was doing. Possibly riding the jet ski without paying rather than trying to steal it.

It was all a misunderstanding, I was drunk, I don't recall anything, please let me go.

Hmm, ok, we understand, you pay us 20,000 baht to cover the Jet ski operator not to press charges, hospital costs and our admin costs, otherwise you go jail, "up to you".

We the local boys in brown thank you very much for your understanding.

But then there would be no "story".  Remember: this is a No-Fact Zone.
