Patong Trying to Solve Algae Blooming on Beach

Patong – Authorities in Patong are trying to solve a problem of algae blooming on the beach.

The Phuket Natural and Environment Resources Director Mr. Wattanapong Suksai told the Phuket Express, “The Patong Municipality has continued to clean up algae on Patong beach everyday due to the current blooming.

 

This algae bloom has affected beachgoers and swimmers’ activities.”

Step one:bring all sewage treatment plant(s)up to code. Step two:check the sea water for contaminants after the new treatment plant(s) are fully functional...as if that was ever going to happen.

Some seaweed polysaccharides are used by food industry as texture modifiers because of their high viscosity and gelling properties. In Asia seaweeds have been used for centuries in salads, soups and as low calorie dietetic foods.
