Patong – Authorities in Patong are trying to solve a problem of algae blooming on the beach.

This algae bloom has affected beachgoers and swimmers’ activities.”

But............. but..........there's a squillion Chinese tourists on the way, can you eat it?

Step one:bring all sewage treatment plant(s)up to code. Step two:check the sea water for contaminants after the new treatment plant(s) are fully functional...as if that was ever going to happen.

Oh dear. Meanwhile, in filthy, polluted Pattaya (well, filthy polluted Dongtan Beach, anyway), lol...

All the money wasted coming across the world to a beach you cannot walk or lay on - you have to laugh

The more sewage the more algae.

Not true.

Not all blooms are harmful.
Blooms known as “nuisance blooms” can discolor water, smell bad, and cause the water or fish to taste bad. Nuisance blooms are not usually dangerous to people, pets, and livestock because they do not produce toxins. However, they can discourage people from visiting beaches, drinking tap water, or eating fish from water with an ongoing bloom.

You cannot tell if a bloom is harmful just by looking at it.

Yes indeed, well some of it when sewage removed! (Google):-

Some seaweed polysaccharides are used by food industry as texture modifiers because of their high viscosity and gelling properties. In Asia seaweeds have been used for centuries in salads, soups and as low calorie dietetic foods.

Combine it with buffet prawns/shrimp and they may have a winner! Breakfast on the beach!

Been a few years since we've had an algae bloom thread.

Whatever next? Water shortages? (Probably not after the rains last October)

There will soon be girls offering soapy massages in it...555
