Good news,  it's a start anyway ....  I'll bet there are hundreds of cases they will have to follow up on.

Boxes and boxes of paper to review.

Brings back memories of 20 years ago when the ICC eventually caught and convicted  Serb and Bosnian war criminals Milošević and Karadžić, who were found guilty of genocide in the Bosnian War.

The ICC certainly has teeth but if the Russians never eventually give the ICC jurisdiction in Russia, the culprits will never be brought to justice unless they are apprehended in a signatory country.

Peace talks? Russia brutally attacked Ukraine and have killed tens of thousands of its people. The only talks that should be held are regarding Russian retreat to behind it's borders, reparation payments and the imminent handover of Putin and other war criminals.

We will have to see no good thinking about it at the moment Putin's not going hand himself in.

So, is Putin number 1 on this list ? Cannot really have a war crimes commission that ignores the guy who started it

There's plenty to be getting on with:

As the international criminal court in The Hague opens two war crimes cases tied to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Guardian profiles some of the commanders and generals accused by Ukraine, based on interviews with former soldiers, defence officials and open-source data.

The Guardian has also reviewed a board used by Ukrainian prosecutors to track evidence of Russian war crimes. The board, 4 metres wide by 1.5 metres high, contains a detailed diagram of the entire Russian military chain of command in Ukraine.

It's not that I don't agree with holding people responsible but Americans hold themselves above such standards even in normal circumstances to get America to extradite one of there own is  very difficult.

War crimes is impossible or declaring war on a country with " weapons if mass destruction " would have Bush in trouble along with Blair

Hence why should others adhere ?
