Summer storms forecast for most of Thailand this weekend

Most of Thailand, except for the south, is expected to see summer storms this weekend, which will bring rain, strong winds and hail to some areas, according to the Meteorological Department today (Thursday).

 

A moderate cold front from China is expected to cover Thailand’s north-east and the South China Sea. This will intensify the southerly and south-easterly winds and bring humidity from the Gulf and South China Sea to the northern, north-eastern, central and eastern regions of Thailand, said the department.

 

Most north-eastern provinces and some eastern provinces are expected to be affected by the storms on Saturday.  These include Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakhon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham,  Roi-et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi and Trat.

Hot and dry of late. Would be welcomed. 

 

Of the last decade one can almost predict post-Songkran rain/showers, which historically didn't kick in until the 2nd-3rd week of May. The slightest modification of weather cycles. 

 

Notice that the rainy season [locale dependent] can extend up to Loy Kratong......

Hardly surprising as Songkran marks the start and Loy Kratong marks the end of monsoon.

Pretty crappy. AQI is 114 at Bang Khen in NE Bangkok just now. Over 100 across the whole city, up to 152 in places. Still nowhere near what the folk in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are enduring.

They must have been using the weather app on my expensive IPhone, has trouble telling what the weather was, or even is now! An actual correct forecast rarely happens.
