A 42-year-old man from Buriram has been taken into police custody on suspicion of foul play after claiming that his wife had died from heat stroke.

The deceased, Mrs. Sunee, 47, was found with missing teeth and multiple bruises covering her body. At first, the man denied any involvement in his wife's death, but a family member later revealed that he had a history of physically abusing his wife, reported Thai Rath.

On April 14th, 2023, Lt. Anuchit Pengwichai, the deputy inspector of the Muang Buriram Police Station, received a report of a dead body at a house in Ban Yang Subdistrict.

The police discovered the lifeless body of Mrs. Sunee with a broken mouth and numerous missing teeth, as well as extensive green bruises all over her body. She was believed to have been dead for at least six hours.

Mrs. Nun, a 54-year-old female relative of the deceased, reported that the deceased had been regularly subjected to physical abuse by her husband, despite loving him and returning to him.

However, the severity of the abuse on this occasion resulted in the woman's tragic death. Mrs. Nueng Bunthamsan, the mother of the deceased, confirmed that her daughter had worked hard to support her husband, who was an alcoholic and abusive towards her.

The suspect's mother, Mrs. Khiang Karaeram, aged 73, claimed no knowledge of how her daughter-in-law had died. She explained that the couple had been living together for three years and that the woman drank more than the man.

However, she did not hear any argument on the night in question and suggested that the woman's death may have been due to the hot weather.

The police are continuing their investigation into the case and will ensure that the suspect is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

This tragic incident highlights the serious issue of domestic violence and emphasizes the need for support and protection for victims of abuse.

Why why why can't people see the light and just walk away.

She paid the ultimate price for mis-placed loyalty.

Yes. But she said she loved him. As they say in Yorkshire, now't so queer as folk.

A sad history

And it's all too prevalent in this country.

IMO alcohol is much more serious a problem than traffic accidents. It's the root cause of many RTAs of course but there are many more domestic incidences that never come to the attention of any authorities until they reach the serious level that we have read about here.

The issues of domestic violence are not taken seriously enough in this country. Not by a long way.

I would hope that when he is found guilty, his mother also faces charges for trying to mislead a police investigation.

Hey, that's what the accused's mother said. But there again, she would, wouldn't she? Defending her drunken lout of a son.

True, let's assume, according to the article, that both drank, It’s not relevant who drank more.  What can go wrong in this type of relationship?

What an incredibly depressing life.
