Phuket – Legal action is being taken against five illegal taxi drivers and five taxi meter drivers in Phuket.

The Phuket Land Transport Office (PLTO) told the Phuket Express that relevant officials recently set up a checkpoint near Phuket International Airport in Thalang.

Five taxi meter drivers were found not using the fare meter when passengers used their services. Five taxi drivers were also found using personal vehicles to transfer tourists as illegal taxis (Black Plates).

They are at the airport

These crackdowns usually last two weeks. Then all is forgotten. Never forget. The taxi mafia is more powerful than the police or the army. Who knows why?

Took a meter taxis once, meter was running so fast I would have paid the same in the more comfortable airport ',limousine'.

Well that's a first! Musta been trying to muscle in on the incumbent Taxi mafi. They're untouchable.
