On Thursday 20th, a severe thunderstorm caused chaos at a free concert in Bueng Kan Province, where the popular Mor Lam Band "Rabbit Rhetoric" was scheduled to perform at Thai Ban TV Co., Ltd. across from Pak Khat Kindergarten School.

The newly installed Mo Lam Stage collapsed when a violent gust of wind hit the area, causing the entire structure, including the steel frame, railing, lighting, sound, speaker cabinet, and a large LED screen in the middle of the stage, to break into pieces.

The incident resulted in panic and confusion among both the singers and fans. Fans who had eagerly come to watch the famous Mor Lam Band singers up close fled in terror, carrying their children and grandchildren.

Despite the strong winds, some fans stood their ground with crossed arms to encourage the band, while vendors quickly gathered their belongings and fled.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Due to the risk of falling trees, roofs, and debris, Col. Siwat Worakuttanon, Superintendent of Pak Khat Police Station, ordered all police officers to instruct Mor Lam's fans to seek shelter inside the building.

The power also went out during the storm, adding to the chaos.

Following the storm, the Mor Lam Faculty posted a message on their page, apologizing for the show's cancellation due to the severe storm, reported Siam Rath.

The damage to the stage and equipment is expected to be worth several million baht. The band apologized to their fans and hoped for their understanding in the circumstances.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the crucial importance of safety measures during outdoor events, especially in the face of unpredictable and severe weather conditions.

So many buildings in Thailand have large overhangs or even no walls at all, a perfect invitation for strong winds to lift the roof off. Why don't builders know this, in a country that, every year, suffers hurricane-strength winds, even if only for a few minutes before a storm?

Another one who came here and 'fell in love with the culture' ???? Morlam stages are not comprised of bamboo and are usually well put together. Freak weather can wreck a stage anywhere
