I think you are Australian. Maybe time to face facts - Thai women are nice but life in Australia can be better for you. At 48 you can earn a good living, fish for healthy fish, understand and be understood and maybe retire in Thailand at 60.

"He has only ever known me as his guardian/father although he knows, I think, that I’m not his actual father. But at Five he has no concept"

So at 5 years old, his mother is thai, he is full thai  and you are falang  and you think he may not know you are not his biological father????????????

I really don’t care what people say in whatever language…. If it rubs you the wrong way find some other place for massage and whatever…

I don’t believe I’ve ever use a semicolon; you don’t see them too often, but I do like a comma, as I do like to go off at a tangent, about 23 times a story.

I don't interpret this as a rambling post, but rather a Gent blowing steam to vent his frustrations.

Most all of us could  improve our written construction and conveyances, but we should never let another restrict one's desire to express themselves through harmless literary comments .

As an Expat in LOFS you'll live with "Thaism" daily and most will try to ignore it.  However, the acceptance of it  can be difficult when we see little ones like Dang take some of the abuse due to their association with "Falangs".  We are a guest in this Country with little chance of ever becoming a citizen and even if we did, the discriminate actions would continue.

Love reading these type of narratives on how other folk experience life in Thailand.

I never said what you are insinuating I have said.

I’m positive Dang has no concept of how he came to be. He has no concept of what a Father is. He just knows that I look after him. And I have never tried to have him call me his Dad as the locals want me to do.

You Mr.Hello are a nasty individual and a knuckle dragger. You know that yourself deep inside. When you typed those laughing emojis in reference to an innocent 5 year old boy who doesn’t have a father you must have been enjoying yourself. I wonder who you are and what you’re about ? This forum attracts some of the nastiest people as does the Bar scene.

Dang is a great kid and I’m gonna do my best to make his life a success like having a father helped me to realise

an enjoyable life.

I’m not Australian I’m a million miles in the opposite direction I’m English. I would not go to Oz if you gave me a free house and car. That government is evil.

Seems you've got your heart in the right place, not sure if you are going about things the right way though.  It does come over as a bit of a rant, especially as others have noted, little punctuation.

I'm guessing you a good guy, you unwittingly made a connection with the lad which has had a positive effect on you.

But your replies to other posters do show a bit of attitude, I suggest being a bit kinder to the other posters - otherwise you will just get more abuse back, which I doubt was your original intention.

Hope you stay safe up there!

Cool story bro.

I just hope I don't sit next to you at a bar and mistakenly say: "How's it going?"

@Stevey I like your post and admire your determination. As a father of a 19 year old half English/Thai son, I can see your input to the development of the child. In the absence of another father figure he will prosper with your attitude. Ignore the trolls here and don't be tempted to bait them.

Don't worry about the grammar police either. If they are not clever enough to understand, without punctuation, then that's their problem.

@NORDO Is on the right track, us as farangs in Thailand, will find it hard to be accepted. We can try to make a difference. Even in Cambodia and Myanmar, their English language is better than Thailand. @Stevey, You can make a difference to that boy's future.

Do take note of @BritManToo's comments. Be carefull not to piss off anyone in the local community.

I have seen the penis pinching thing and beleive it to be a way of scolding a child or getting their attention. I would never do same with anyone else in the community if I was you.

You do seem to have a good grasp of local family life that many here have not experienced. Immersion in the culture is not something all have endured, hence comments on this forum. Good luck to you and please keep posting your experiences thus others will learn.

no, my emojis werent meant for the 5 year boy,  trust me on that, it was more "shock and horror" referring to you/your post

its quite funny, your reactions/behaviour are so typical of old white guys who probably dont have much success in life back home so they go to asian countries where they start getting an inferiority complex, because theyre suddenly a lot wealthier, more handsome, start thinking you know better, and once challenged you get into a hissy fit

you're boasting about your thai language/culture skills over someone else you are having a beef about, youre suddenly father of the year and know whats best, once challenged you retort with how Australia is a <deleted>hole

same "S*(t" different day, my friend

How is it boasting ? to Say that I have  an understanding of the language that some who profess to be Thai old hands don’t. I mean that rhetorically, you’re adding nothing with your laughing emoji’s. Thanks for your input but unless you can provide a counter narrative you’re just insulting me while I’m trying to insult the locals locals.

The venting of my feelings and experiences is to inform from my perspective as someone who is up close and personal understanding what’s going on around me while I’m in this Isaan community. I’ve been here everyday for over 2 years.

I hope the punctuation and grammar are acceptable in this post. I just had an ETD Emergency Toilet Disaster unfold as we got back from the local smoothie shack. It was battle stations getting from the bike to the toilet. I’d score me a 6/10 for accuracy, let’s get this place sluiced out.

If we weren't failures in our home countries, we wouldn't need to move here.

You as well!

As for learning the language,

I did, but they had nothing to say I wanted to hear, so I forgot.

I also forgot German, French and Spanish.

Thanks for the wise words.

Yes I hope people will get an insight to what goes on up here. I have a lot of experience not just gathered myself but from what others have been thru. I will also tell my failings that may contributed to the situations.

From now on I will not answer back any more troll comments.

Right off for some noodles…. Again ????
