Biden laughs off idea of Trump pardon after DeSantis pledges to consider it

President Joe Biden on Monday scoffed at the idea of granting his predecessor, former president Donald Trump, a pardon absolving him of any crimes he may have committed during or after his presidency.

Mr Biden was asked if he’d consider a reprieve for Mr Trump as he departed the White House en route to his Delaware home on Monday, the day before the eighth anniversary of his late son Beau Biden’s death.

Asked whether he’d heard that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has said he’d pardon the disgraced ex-president — and if he’d consider doing so himself, the president flashed a smile and chuckled as he turned towards the South Lawn and his flight aboard Marine One.

  • Perhaps Biden should consider that question and answer very carefully!

  • I think you have it a little mixed up. How can Trump divide the country? He's not president!

I’m going to hazard a guess that means NOPE ????

Why, has Biden been indicted for anything, and are there any cases that match Trumps.  I don't think so.  Its the son that's in a little bit of trouble.

However, Trump caused an insurrection, claimed the election was stolen, filed a multitude of lawsuits with that claim and then lost them all as unfounded, then because of gracious and sharing nature thousands are going to jail because of him, his finances are shams, and then of course he took home classified documents and when asked for them back denied he had them and then failed to honor the first few asks of him.  So lets see, documents were found during cursory searches of Biden and Pences residences by there own folks and then they were returned to the National Archives.  Did the Donald do that, naw he claimed he declassified them by just thinking about it.......

Trump is the modern day Jefferson Davis, dividing the country etc...

A misquoted post full of unsubstantiated claims on the Biden family has been removed.

2 year old off topic video of Biden removed as well as a post trying to hijack the OP.

Perhaps you've been asleep the last 6 years, but yes, Trump has divided the country.  And for his next trick, he will be dividing the Republican party.  That may not be such a bad thing.

I woke up quite awhile ago. Perhaps you should hear your alarm! Trump divided the country! No he did not. The dems divided the country. "He's not my president". Now you will lose your country. The US will never stay together. Hope you're happy!

He have zero doubt that he has considered the question and ruled it out long ago.

A president with a sense of humor!  Haven't had one of those in a while.

It's pretty clear that DeSantis only said he'd consider it just to appease the MAGA base that he needs.  But if DeSantis manages to make it through the primary and general, he would have been on the receiving end of countless Trump attacks and insults over many months.  I doubt he's going to be feeling magnanimous towards Trump.

Maybe not! But looking at who they have voted in during the last two elections it seems that some of the US public may indeed have a sense of humour!

The significant issue here is not Biden waving the question of giving Trump a pardon.

It’s the fact the news media are now accepting the very real possibility of Trump being in position to need a pardon.

Trump being facing Justice is now undeniably a news item.

Actually, to anyone paying attention, Trump was/is merely a symptom of the division,

The Obama Administration initiated the racial animosity and division and the Left has been keeping it stoked-up.

This is hilarious. The "news media" (AKA the propaganda wing of the Democrat party) as well as virtually all the leftist posters here have been insisting Trump would in position to need a pardon almost daily for the last six years.

Yep I agree

A black man winning the Presidency and together with his black wife as First Lady.

That really did trigger the hate.

Just to note that Special Counsel Jack Smith is investigating possible federal criminal indictments.

The NY State criminal 'hush money' indictment and the possible election interference charges in Georgia are state crimes and not subject to federal Presidential pardon.

Racial division has been in the country since before it was a country.  However the birthers who propagated the born in Kenya lie stoked it to levels that had not been seen for a while.

Trump became the most prominent of the birther liars.

Kenyan is not a race.

The other big racially-tinged event in Trump's political outcoming was his stance and paid ad in the "Central Park Jogger" case.

The only thing Obama was guilty of was being black while President.  MAGA folks will never forgive him for that.

Irrelevant.  Kenya is an African nation.  The first President who was not a white male was also the first President accused of being a non-citizen and therefore unqualified for office.  The accusation was so blatantly false that all evidence that Barrack Obama was born in Honolulu was ignored and false evidence had to be created.  And gullible people by the millions eagerly believed it.

If you don't think that was racist, you don't have a clue.

Trump was and is an extremely divisive racist.

I agree Trump was a symptom.

But it wasn't Obama but Newt Gingrich and the Tea Party who initiated the racial animosity and division.

Obamacare became the symbol of America's division flamed by the GOP's reluctance to pass a black man's affordable health care bill.

Universal health care is a given in most western countries yet is still not available in the US, one of the richest countries of the world.

Why would President Biden need to answer very carefully?

Firstly DeSantis has to be nominated by the GOP to become the presidential candidate.

Secondly he has to win enough states and votes to beat Trump.

Thirdly IF he gets that far he then has to win against President Biden, the Electoral College and the voters in the USA.
