Japanese customer accuses Thai masseur of attempted rape in Bangkok

A Japanese woman took to Twitter to share a story that a Thai masseur attempted to rape her while providing a service at a massage parlour near Khao San Road in Bangkok. The female shop owner defended her male employee, telling police that inserting a finger into a woman’s vagina is part of the service.

A Thai Twitter user, @Reiriesz, translated the Japanese victim’s post and shared it on Twitter yesterday, June 12. The 23 year old Japanese woman revealed that she visited the massage shop, later identified as Tong Ou massage shop on Ram Buttri Road near Khao San, with her Chinese boyfriend in February.

At the shop, the couple were offered separate services. A Thai masseur, allegedly named Mai Nirakthai, was assigned to provide a service for her. Suddenly while performing the massage, the man sexually assaulted her by putting his finger into her vagina. She was shocked and screamed for help.

She then contacted officers from Chana Songkham Police Station. After two hours passed, no officers arrived at the scene, so, she managed to drag the masseur to Chana Songkham Police Station, which is only 500 metres away from the incident scene.

According to the victim, the police did not question the masseur in her presence. They talked privately in another room. The man returned and shouted at the alleged victim saying that it was her fault. Shockingly, the shop owner defended the masseur’s actions, stating that putting a finger into her vagina was a part of the massage process.

The shop owner even dared the victim to demonstrate how the man sexually assaulted her to convince her and the police that the service is normal.

  • I think in most countries it's defined simply as sexual penetration without consent - so a finger will do.

I've wondered if it was normal or just what you see on porn videos

That is clearly rape and it seems to be proven given the comments by the shop owner.

Does rape usually include a penis?

And please, it is the 'alleged' indecent (assault) scene until proved.

No pointing then?

I was at a massage shop in Pratunam once some years ago chatting with the mamasan when a Spanish-speaking couple came in. They had little English so I translated. The guy wanted a massage with a happy ending (feliz final?) and the lady wanted to watch and masturbate.

The mamasan didn't bat an eyelid at the request. So it seems these places get all sorts of customers and the incident in the report might be one simply of serious misunderstanding.

No, indecent assault.

The definition of rape I saw is 'Rape is a type of sexual assault involving sexual intercourse or other forms of sexual penetration carried out against a person without their consentThe term rape is sometimes used interchangeably with the term sexual assault.[3]' so I suppose it's somewhere in that spectrum.

It depends which country's definition you're using.

It would be rape in the US, where this is defined as:

Quote

Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, [...] without the consent of the victim

However in the UK, where rape requires penetration by a penis, this would be classed as, "Assault by penetration."

The massage guy could've should've felt the water before diving in

Many years ago in Los Angeles we received multiple reports of a freelance male massage “therapist” who offered massages at the clients home.  The male massage “therapist” usually approached attractive women at public parks or the beach.  He was able to convince 5 women to hire him.  In the end he was arrested, tried and convicted of 5 counts of digital rape(his finger(s)).  As far as I know he is still in prison.

Generally if the client gives consent before then “no crime”.

As I said the shop might have (mis)understood that the woman wanted the service when they negotiated. She obviously consented to a male masseur for a body massage (nuat Thai) likely in a closed cubicle, not a foot massage which would be in an open area. This itself is unusual.

A reconstruction maybe needed in this case ????

enough with the fingering

A man took to Twitter to share a story about a Thai masseur who touched his penis while providing a service at a massage parlour.  The shop owner defender her employee, telling police that touching a man's penis is often part of the service.

I've read articles about male masseurs massaging women getting arrested back home.

If the women agree to be massaged, not sure what the problem is.

But seems like a risky thing to do in western countries.

Just an honest misunderstanding I'd guess, the masseur probably had more experience with customers wanting THAT kind of massage.

The shop owner declared it to be normal practice and "defended the masseur’s actions".

That satisfies me that the incident took place and is not "alleged".

This is Thailand young lady... happy endings are the norm.

Happens a lot in Japan too, I wonder why she wasn't aware of the practice and specifically asked for a more "traditional" non-invasive massage

If English interpretation was used, at a shop with this name, Tong Ou, a patron shouldn't be too surprised at what might take place. But then, the couple were Japanese and Chinese, so English interpretation may not apply.

Curious to see how this re-enact session is going to look like...

Should have asked the woman explicitly if she agrees to this kind of service before doing it ...

How is that unusual? You expect people wanting full body massages to lay naked in an open area for all to see?

There's a grey area with these things. Firstly, assuming this was an oil massage with her clothes off. The customer might have been in the mood during the massage and gave body signals that suggested it was ok for the man to do it, but then regretted it after and complained .Or the man may have proceeded without any kind of consent.

There's no way to tell and no legal recourse because it's Thailand.

I doubt that he did this spontaneously without any preparatory actions. If there was no protest while touching her in this area, one can assume that she consented to this kind of treatment.

No time to read all the responses, but it's well known young Japanese women pay for sex in Japan.

Of course, you're not going to get any females who lurk here to ever admit to such a thing.

I'm willing to bet that while it's less prevalent than on the other side of the fence, yes, it definitely does go down like they show on the pornos, I mean come on, they have needs too!

I think he botched it horribly though, only a cave man goes right for the baby-chute without warning.

Yep, maybe she was expecting a bit of bean flicking but didn't want to play hide the digit?

It would be unusual for the masseur to go straight from a perfectly normal massage to insertion in one second. But who knows? Her word against his at the end of the day.
