On July 17, 2023, Thailand's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) disclosed the assets and liabilities of former members of parliament (MPs), Thammanat Prompao and Chada Thaiseth.

Thammanat, an ex-MP of Phayao province from the Palang Pracharath Party, reported assets totaling over 1 billion baht, including 17 houses, 20 vehicles, predominantly luxury cars, reported Siam Rath.

Chada, a former MP of Uthai Thani province from the Thai Pride Party, declared assets worth 147 million baht.

Among his possessions are 5 cars, 7 motorcycles, 214 cows, 132 buffalos, 2 horses, and 18 sacred amulets.

The NACC published these accounts as part of a wider investigation into former MPs who left office between February 28 and March 20, 2023.

This ongoing transparency effort is designed to combat corruption and maintain political accountability.

Are these high ticket items? If so, what makes them sacred and can I turn cheap amulets into sacred amulets so I can make a bundle selling them?

Sure and this guy would be the all time poster boy manic to be important, manic for others to see how wealthy he is.

A Thai man I know of the same, he's an English coversation teacher, not very good at it, doesn't teach English writing because he can't write English sentences.

Bores his Thai students every day with new/old big photos on the class room walls of luxury houses and expensive cars he claims to own.

And he makes sure they all get mentioned during his class.

Supposed to teach English conversation but there's no 2 way conversation, just his self agranisment.

Years ago he borrowed 10M Baht from a very naive farang, never been repaid.

Farang is very wealthy. Also years back the Thai I'm important guy went to farangs house and said 'my car has been stolen', so naive farang gave him the keys to his expensive close to new BMW, 'here, use this until the police find your car'. He never had a car.

Years later still using the BMW, even using an oil company fleet card to refill the tank.

"214 cows, 132 buffalos"?

The man can leave the village but you can't take the village out of the man.

It's a sickness, a mental illness, isn't it. No-one needs that amount of money, that number of cars etc.

And leave the debt problem to your family to take care of and become poor.

Not good advice.

misunderstanding, these are only the few he declared. Rest is in Liechtenburg, Switzerstein or Luxemhamas somewhere. But where is the flourmill? Was it confiscated in Oz?

If Prawit becomes PM this guy jumps up the food chain.

This. ☝️

I still haven't worked out why he was not charged with standing as an MP while he may not have been eligible. Criminal record and fake degree. He must have known these may have got him disqualified.

I have now worked it out: he was a member of the right party!
