Prawit's Enigmatic Response to Possible PM Race

Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, General Prawit Wongsuwan, elicited interest on July 18th, 2023, when he remained uncommunicative yet cheery amidst speculation about a possible bid for the prime minister's post against contender Pita.

 

Post-cabinet meeting, Prawit exited the government building, smiling enigmatically, reported Thai Rath.

 

When asked about the likelihood of him competing with Pita in the forthcoming electoral race, he merely smiled, offering no comment.

 

Similarly, when questioned about his feelings on the potential nomination, Prawit's response was an echoing smile and a hasty departure in his private vehicle, his persistent grin being noteworthy.

 

This silent, smiling reaction has incited conjecture and anticipation within political circles and beyond.

usurp from an illegal expired caretaker government which refused to go.....

After the failed election that government had expired. They did not do a coup against a regular normal government

The only reason Prawit can be PM is to prepare new elections.

There is no way he should be regular PM. In the election it was pretty clear that people do not want him.....

Sure but the reality is that prawit & prayut and the military senators live in their own 'world' and have no interest in what the rest of Thailand thinks. In fact many of them would think that the civilians should just do as they are told and not be involved in such discussions.

He would only be in power long enough for MFP to resolve its court issues and PT to regroup.  Then the when the put the budget forward they will be defeated in the house an a new election will have to be called

But would that cancel the constitution item and the laws saying that senators must be in place by appointment and not mentioning anything about being elected?

Would not be even surprised if this clown decides to make it 500 elected MP's and 500 senators of his choice. He's seen what 250 can do and how they can give power back to the military - imagine the power of 500 of them !

It should provide the non military parties more seats.

It will move the dial closer and if they do it after the Senate election in may it would mean a new Senate with a different mandate
