Dr Jack54 & Lopburi3.

Thank you for explicit advice.

I shall apply for a 60 day extension to visit wife.

Then go for extension based on marriage.

Not correct. I had a joint account with my wife for my extensions based on retirement a few times. The 800k must be minimum 1.6M.

Consider yourself lucky that you didn't have 1.6M in the account for her to steal, Worth bearing in mind for the future

Do you realise how silly your last paragraph is? The account for Immigration Extensions must be SOLE ACCOUNT.

OK, Bht 1.6M if wife is also on an extension. Did you actually have 1.6M in the account? And if so, did she leave 800k for your Extension. All seems a bit iffy to me.

This really shows what a trusting relationship you have/had.

Whoever put a CONFUSED emoji on my reply, please tell me what it was which caused this confusion so that I do not confuse other Members with my replies, thanks.

Did the CONFUSED member not understand my post, or are there other Confused members out there.

If so, please let me know what confuses you, thanks.

If the account and ATM card is in your name only—that’s illegal for her to draw down that account.

Incidentally, you could have the makings for a great novel.

write a novel using CHatGPT and your imagination. Maybe a great opportunity to recoup some or all of the money. Heck, you are 75. What do you do all day? Spend 10 hours a day and finish your novel. Self publish in Amazon.

An Aussie ex-professor who lived in our village on retirement extensions had health problems & sent his Thai wife to the Oz embassy in Bangkok to renew his passport for him but his photos were rejected (as were mine once). His wife returned the 200 miles back to tell her husband she needed to make another 400 mile round trip with more acceptable photos. He said `forget the new passport.' He died in the village 7 years later on a 7 year overstay. My wife quoted this, questioning why I need to keep extending every year when nobody checks. I tell her times have changed.

I know someone who recently tried this, to move the date of his annual retirement extension. He was told that if he did, they wouldn't grant a retirement visa, he would have to leave the country and start again. I'm not saying you're wrong, but if the OP gets an uncooperative IO who takes a dim view of this manoeuvre, he will have to try something else.

We live in small village, 200 miles north of Bangkok. Bank is SCB. I can't sack the wife as she owns the house we live in that we built 28 years ago & besides she's been 100% until this. The Covids killed so many businesses here & money is scarce now in the village. I'll travel to the Pattaya agent if I can get this sorted.

The 800,000 Baht should have been kept in a separate bank account, and well out of her reach.

It’s obvious that the OP transferred the 800 K into a joint account.

As a retired bookmaker money is like the tide, it goes in & out.

You win some, you lose some.

They say that the Bookie always wins. Obviously not in your case.

How many years has he been here, married.

I guess at 75 yrs old the faculties go away.

I am 75 and know EXACTLY what the Thai regulations are.

I'm up for my 16th annual extension of my Non-O based on retirement within a couple of weeks. Shock! Horror! My Thai wife, we've been married 26 years, yesterday told me she has spent my 800k keeping her restaurant going. What can I do? I'm 75, on UK passport.

The 800K account should be in your sole name, so how can she access it?
