I have a recent kasikorn bank debit card activated for online purchase at atm by  bank staff.

i wish to use it on the Thai Airways site for ticket purchase, did a dummy run to payment stage clicked the debit card logo,

It requires as mandatory cardholders name ,  card number, 3 digit security code and expiry date. However the card is nameless just has privileged member on the card.

Under the mandatory cardholders name field do you simply type in your own name or privileged member? seems not an option to leave the box unfilled.

Anyone used kasikorn debit card recently for Thai Airways or Thai Smile with success?

Most Thai banks have privileged member on their debit cards

Use your own name and not as above as it wont be recognized.

You can see the name attached to a card in the mobile application in the card details.
But the better option is to apply for a virtual card (in the same app). It is more secure because you can set separated limits for a virtual card and you can re-issue it at any moment if you feel that data is compromised.

But the virtual card can be problematic if the carrier wishes to see the card that was used for the booking when checking in.

Some carriers specifically exclude booking using virtual cards, probably only a few have this restriction, and then only hit and miss, but you do need to check

I was asked to show the virtual card once, showed it in the app. Registered to my flight without problems.

Have Kasikorn started to issue virtual cards again? People haven't been able to apply for them for a couple of years, with constant promises from Kasikorn that they would "soon" be available again.

Thanks for responses this is being done on a laptop I dont use a mobile kasikorn app.

So in short using your account name will be tracked matched by software to the card number and transaction completed ......to be confirmed or otherwise soon.

Any one used this card for airline ticket or anything else on line without problems?

May I also suggest you apply for a Kasikorn credit card?  I have one and it was easy to get.

Yes probably a lot easier but im leaving soon so left it ten years to late.

In theory Thai airways booking with a Thai bank debit card should be simplicity itself ... we shall see.

Have you ever used a card online. All cards are assigned to the name of the person that holds the card. Does not matter what it stands on the card. I assumed you have given your name on the account the card is connected to. That will be the name you use.

Use your name, even though it might not show on the card  it is attached to the card in your account. , It should not  be no problem ,

I have to check with my wife because she is the one who always makes the reservations(she is out shopping) But we alway fly with Thai Smile (at least a couple of time a year  KKC to BKK) and I pretty sure my wife uses our debit card.  After you do, if you are concerned, simply call the airline and confirm.

Yes tried with previous Kasikorn card few years back for Thai smile flight wouldnt work just paid cash at 7/11 with Qr code sent to me.

This time its Thai Airways international booking site and no option to pay in cash at local stores etc although Thai smile offer this option for domestic flight down to Bkk.

But from the responses it seems if i enter my account name i will have no problem, next day or when take the plunge will see, have to increases my transaction limit first ...air fares are outrageous...... but calling Kasikorn call center today waiting waiting waiting....no answer likely because holiday Sunday.

I got one and this is my understanding

Why get a credit card? Because in situations such as car rentals, Debit cards can be a problem.

So It is secured by funds in your account , (so in essence it is really a debit card)  but the funds are not removed from your account, unless you don't pay you balance. So your balance stays the same for Immigration purposes.

I just got it a few weeks ago, not wanting to use my US cards anymore .and I have made only one charge so far, also with Thai smile.

As I said I am new to this, and this is my understanding. IMO worth looking into it.

There is no annual fee for the first 12 transactions, anymore than that and there is an annual fee of 1500 baht per year.

What's the minimum account amount to obtain a card?

Not sure, I will ask the wife when she gets back home, if she knows, I keep a minimum of 400k for my yearly extension, so I have secured an amount that will be useful for my travels. We are leaving in a couple of weeks for a Europe vacation. I suggest you use the minimum that you require so that if you get hit, you don't lose too much,(Which is why I don't have a debit card in this account I have a separate account for that). I am not sure how good they are with pitting the money back into your account as they do in the west.

Now that you mention it I also had the thought if you could raise the amount through your credit card app as needed. I will also look into that  and get back to you.

Ok so the wife  says they don't have a minimum , but of course I would check with the bank if I was you.

And she said you can call them and change your minimum as you need it, So I guess you could set an amount adequate   for your daily use ,and call them and raise your minimum if you needed to spend more.

OK this is not Kasikorn but on SCB when I have paid for a couple of items online with my debit card I used SCB DEBIT which is what it says and it went through each time........

Are you sure about that? There was a thread some time ago where someone had done this and when it came to doing their bank letter the withheld amount was taken off their balance.......

If you have checked with the bank then hopefully no worries but others need to be aware - sorry cannot remember which bank it was at the time.

Yep, but only in mobile app.

IME when I used "Privileged Member" as it appears on the card for an airline ticket, the payment was accepted and the ticket issued.

Not what you asked but you're in a safer position by paying with a credit card, should the merchant not deliver for whatever reason.

Is the virtual card still available? I used to have one from the KBank web site but could not renew it as I understood they stopped these for everyone? I cannot find any option to get one on the K Plus app today? Can you point me to it please?

It's available again, in K-Plus.

I've used my K-Bank debit card for online flight bookings in Thailand, AUS, and NZ. The only website where it never worked is AirAsia's.

Banks all over the world are experiencing scams, theft of funds, hijack of names etc etc.

Perhaps no actual name is one way the banks tries to block scammers et.

I just checked my KBank debit card, issued about 7 years ago. My personal name is NOT on the card, but it is in the databases of the bank, hopefully cannot be accessed by anybody except the bank.

I often wonder why people don't call the K Bank, BBL etc, call centres and get direct answers.

With K Bank you call, you quickly speak to a bank officer, good listeners and you get a specific answer.

K

Compared to the other banks K bank answers quickly and you speak to someone quickly, good listeners, always polite, always clear answers.

The other banks call centres not as good as the K Bank service.

No fees, and they don't bite.

Banking > Debit Card

I don't have any option for a virtual card on my account for some reason. Only real debit cards mailed to my home. When I asked KBank before why they told me the virtual debit card was no longer available.

How would a virtual card work in case of a refund? Can the ticket be refunded on the virtual card? I thought virtual cards were burner cards, to be used only once (like in order to pay membership on a porn site lol).

The virtual cards I’ve used have been been issued by Kasikorn and linked to my account, and given a visa credit card number and funds taken whenever l’ve made a a purchase, I imagine refunds would be made the same.

I’ve never come accused burner cards and would have no need for one for the transaction you describe.
