This is the shocking moment a British tourist and his son were brutally beaten by bouncers outside a bar in Thailand's 'Sin City' of Pattaya.

 

Holidaymaker Ian Thomas, 60, and his son Gregory, 37, had entered the Matador Bar in the city's Soi Buakhao red light street but were allegedly asked to leave by the bar owner at around 1.35am on August 5.

 

The pair were ushered outside by bouncers when their heated argument descended into a physical brawl, with Gregory first being beaten up. CCTV footage shows how he was hit and pulled to the ground where he was then kicked repeatedly.

 

Footage then shows how the older Brit Ian, in a black shirt, then slapped a guard across the face, sparking more chaos as the staff pushed him to the ground while repeatedly kicking him in the head.

 

Gregory, in a checkered polo, was seen trying to help his father but was again attacked and beaten, with his father left in a heap in the road.

Total overreaction to the situation by the Thai bouncers.

They could have killed the Brit who was helpless on the floor.

 

These unhinged Thai males need locking up before they do some serious damage to another patron.

 

Bouncers should be trained to use 'reasonable force' when dealing with violent altercations, not beating someone to a pulp who is already on the floor helpless. 

 

Shocking behavior from the Thais once again!

There are two sides to every story.

- Possibly drunk Brits abroad entering a bar soon before it's due to close.

- Asked to leave.

- Gave some lip and a slap to Thai bouncers.

- Thai bouncers overreact, because #1 they love to do stuff like this, especially when feeling safe in the numbers #2 they're not 'trained' as Bob might hope they would be... this is Thailand and they don't get paid much, so who would pay for any 'training'?

 

The rule is, do not ever challenge Thai men in cases like this, ESPECIALLY if they're in uniform, at work, and you may have had a few drinks. Just never do it, because you can't win.

A real man should have brains as well as muscles.

2. Whilst holidaying in a foreign country, getting involved with bouncers in a red light area.
3. Arguing and assaulting bouncers.

What sort of treatment would one expect?

Where in the world would bouncers mollycoddle and show humanitarian qualities in such a situation - specially after getting slapped?

TBH there are 3 sides to a story - 1) His/Her side 2) My side 3) The TRUE side.

In which country would bouncer turn the other cheek - even with training, brains & muscles?

Visitors to night life areas too should have some grey matter... which is active after alcohol.

(Cannot expect too much of brain power from any bouncer IMHO)

Being a bouncer doesn't mean you are a stupid person. The man hit the bouncer first, and he deserved a return punch, then to be subdued by the bouncer and his colleagues. Not to be kicked in the head like this. That's a common thing here, as most don't have a clue how to fight and have to kick, flail with their punches and have more than 2 helpers doing the same thing. Hire someone who actually knows what being a bouncer means. That kind of behavior brings revenge when you least expect it, and sometimes deadly., to the bouncer and or the bar owners. Remember Roadhouse? Subdue, bring outside, and reason with them. if they won't reason, call the police and bring (the usually intoxicated) person to jail. He sobers up, and thinks about what he did, knowing he was wrong (maybe) and revenge usually isn't planned.

I think some time ago we had a not very scientific survey here: How many of us saw that a farang was beaten without any reason?

I never saw a fight bouncer - farang without any reason. And it seems most others also never saw it.

Slapping a Thai in the face is a very stupid idea. Very stupid!

Anybody who does that should be happy if he lives to tell the story.

 

Personally I have no problem with bouncers. Don't annoy them and there are no problems.

Theorotically you are perfect - unfortunately, this world is NOT. Relax, take time, Google and see - this happens not ONLY in Thaiiland - in the 'developed'  world too.

Some 'tourists' come to Thailand red light areas with a completely wrong ideas and understanding of what they can and can't do in a host country, Brits, (among others) are known to over imbibe until loosing  touch with realty and these are the results.

Only a coward kicks someone, besides actually in the fight and standing, and especially when they are down. You kick someone in the head, and they can die, as has happened many times, then you are up for manslaughter charges, if there are credible witnesses and a non corrupt police force and court system. A fine is always the better punishment. People don't like losing money, and it does teach some a lesson. Here, a fine of 10K, maybe a few days in jail, would tell them they did wrong. It may not always work, as drunks , especially those that get violent, are hard to change. In that case,like traffic offenses that are repeated, the fine increases, along with the jail time.

I'm from the US, and have seen many fights in bars, including a lot where bouncers were involved, and my response was about those incidents. They might be lucky they are still alive, and that shows the mentality here, as well as other places. A slap doesn't warrant kicking while down, nor a death sentence. In a civilized area, if you go too far, you are the one who will pay. People shoot others who enter their homes in some places, and they go to prison. I don't have to google anything. I've lived 67 years and have seen it all in person.

Very true. In fact, in a drunken bar/club they provide some security to the other customers. Often I've observed totally drunk men, most times with heavily built bodies, making a nuicence of themselves to other customers in their 'he man' actions trying to attract the women around.

A lot of farangs overestimate their toughness. Unless you are train in muay or similar forget about it. Thais kick hard.

Why were they asked to leave the bar in the first place? Probably acting like tossers. Then they slap the bouncer outside. What were they expecting? A wai and a free drink?

Look at boxers who are pros. Their reaction time slows past 35yo. If you fat farang no skills why get in a fight. Size doesnt help if you no skills and slow.

A lot of Thai bouncers would have trained muay thai 2 or 3 years, some had fights.

 

Fat drunk slow farang comes along slaps khun thai, khun thai reacts with kicks. Their punches are weak but kicks strong.
