19 modern military coups and attempted coups distinguish its elite political culture ,

Democracy ceased to exist long ago!

What a pity these same people did not push for the parliament of the last 8 years to go as they did all but adhere to the law, and be exemplary figures.

All true. However I'm quite surprised by the current BTS ad campaign for Chang Cold Brew. Not a bottle of water (or mention of water) in sight, only blokes sitting in a field of barley holding tankards and a dumb slogan about chilling out with Chang Cold Brew. I'd like to see a craft brewery try a campaign like this!

Now isn't that interesting. Perhaps we can expect the Chang owners along with their advertising team to appear in court any day now. Or whenever hell freezes over. Again - one rule for the rich and another for everyone else.

I think their defense is that they are advertising a "Club" and not the special 25th anniversary Chang Cold Brew Lager. ????

You'll see they are advertising an "experience", a cool, chilling lifestyle.

And there is no beer actually shown, just enclosed Yetti-like tankards.

It's a specious defense, but not unlike their use of their water and other sponsorships to indirectly advertise beer.

I suspect their legal team approved this based their ability to mount a defense.

That said, if I were the MFP chap I'd be assembling any/all of these sorts of advertising, while emphasizing one's ability to speak freely, a right guaranteed by the Thai constitution.

Activist Srisuwan Janya filed a complaint on Tuesday with House speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, who is also chairman of the House ethics committee, seeking an investigation into Padipat Suntiphada, an MP from Phitsanuloke.

Those "activists" are the bane of Thailand.

So hoardings, billboards and adverts by the brewers of Singha and Chang are legal but showing a can is not ? What hypocrisy ?

If you look closely these are ads for water (in small type) that just coincidentally happens to share brand names ( in large type) with some famous beers.

You all will regret if that Move Forward party gets in charge.   This is a minor thing with the beer but you think the left is bad now in a socialist run country which Thailand is very left even with Conservatives in charge.   They are not true Conservative people.   They are closer to center but not over to the right of Center.

They just need someone to eventually say look we need a Capitalist approach to business  and allow these smaller breweries to open up.   It’s not going to kill the big companies heck it will not even put a dent in their money making.   However staying politically activated will hurt those bigger companies wallets like Anheiser Busch is finding out.  In

I'm sure you're right. However unless they introduce a special 'Cold Brew' still or sparking water, then the only thing this is advertising is beer. Initially I thought they might have some coffee drink as a peg to hang this on, but no, only that beer (which I've tried but didn't like).

I thought that the billboards and adverts, along with the comely wenches in short yellow or green outfits (corr!) were all to advertise mineral waters?

Thank you! It's an absolute joke... all the big beer brands advertise their 'soda' water which just happens to be the same name as their beer brands. How many times do we see the Leo logo on Premier league football shows?

Anyone know what brand it is, or price of?

Review of would be nice also.

If it is a place near P'lok railway station, with a name which sounds like a Four Seasons song, then at Bht 210 for a 33cl glass is waaaay over the top.

Singha and Chang logos are well known in Thailand. When the ban was introduced the producers deleted beer from their advertisments and substituted drinking water so their ads are legal but every viewer knows they really promote beer.

If the subject social media post has been deleted, how could it be proved in court that the law was broken?

Srisuwan claims that, by posting an image of the craft beer can, Padipat clearly violated section 32 of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, which prohibits the advertising of alcoholic beverages, as well as section 59 of the penal code.

The offence carries a fine of not more than Bt50,000 and/or a jail term of not more than one year on conviction.

Sorry guys, but did you not see this coming? There was no way any election could change anything.

Just a pity there is not a law prohibiting the advertising of Rolex watches.

MFP are showing their nativity. First Pita announces major constitutional changes before securing premiership and now this fool who’s got a vested interest in craft beer business and announced he would change the law before getting in to suit himself is showing off his product online. A dumb farang knows you can’t do that.
Do they have advisors?

But but but they promote water, and no-one would ever associate their name with that evil beer stuff. I remember several years ago some ridiculous tv ads of people dancing in the street and being ecstatic over their bottle of Singha or Chang water. Absolutely pathetic.

I was in Bangkok the other day, and at the BTS stations there were adverts of Chang cold brew, which as far as I know is not water.

Wondered how they get away with that

Holding a can of beer is much much worse than trafficking heroin, or wearing very expensive watches with a dubious background.

Promoting watch brands is not a crime, nor being convicted of drugs in another country, but holding a beer in your hand is a crime, I wonder if it was a can of red bull, if they would make all this fuss.
