Assistant Thai Police Commissioner discusses Thaksin's Return to Thailand

Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, Lieutenant General Prachuap Wongsuk, has called for an urgent meeting with relevant officials, including immigration police, border patrol police, local police, and others.

 

The purpose is to discuss preparations for ensuring security measures, particularly in the event of the return of Thaksin Shinawatra to Thailand, reported Daily News.

 

Reported on August 18, it is stated that Lt. Gen. Prachuap Wongsuk is coordinating a meeting to strategize security arrangements at various locations, from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Don Mueang Airport, local police stations, and court premises.

 

This coordination involves security deployment, traffic management, and facilitating smooth proceedings, with an estimated time of around 2.5 hours for the entire process.

 

The meeting is expected to prepare for the potential return of Thaksin Shinawatra between August 20-24, after his announcement of returning on August 10 was postponed.

 

The process involves police contingents and immigration authorities handling the situation based on legal protocols, ensuring a fair and efficient course of action without detention.

There will be certain individuals who will be extremely concerned over his return as they are the ones who plotted his downfall and made his sisters tenure so problematic. Assurances will be sought for their safety as well as for Khun Thaksins. They blighted him and his family and wrongs will need to be made right. 

It will be interesting to see which rats run for cover.

he was found guilty in his absence.....he is entitled to be tried again in person. Arrest warrants are issued for people who are fleeing or whose whereabouts is unknown.........he is returning and they know where he is.

It speaks volumes that when the Thai authorities asked other Police forces to arrest him and return him they declined as they also opined the charges against him were unproven & mostly trumped up.

Arrest warrants are issued for wanted people not only for fleeing people.

If only for fleeing people, why hasn't the Red Bull heir returned and had his arrest warrant cancelled as well.

Thaksin's case is in the political arena that's why he is being treated differently.

What is there to 'discuss' that hasn't been agreed already long time ago? and why do they need the input of all those heads of departments to put in their 2 cents worth when the people who really make the decisions are far fewer?

Collect him in prison van as he steps off the plane and transport him directly to the appropriate jail, can't see what all the drama is about.  If they're stuck, I could spare 10 minutes to organise how to get him off the plane into the prison wagon and drive out of the airport, they should be able to handle the rest of the journey by themselves.

What a load of nonsense. People don't get found guilty when the charges are unproven.

he should be arrested upon arrival on tarmac and taken straight to prepared luxury private cell. His lawyers should already have all the paperwork ready for royal pardon and submitted on the day of arrival.

I would love to see Thaksin arrive in his private jet at another of the International  airports near his private residence and take a fast convoy home. Would be a very entertaining scenario that would take a long time for the officials to resolve.

Nice if you can afford it...

...but if things don't pan out the way he wants, then he's a serious flight risk. He's probably got so many passports that the only way to ensure he stays in Thailand is to lock him up until the legal process is over, one way or the other.

You don't think he hasn't been back to Thailand anytime, firstly he normally flys in a private jet, drop into Cambodia, helicopter to anywhere in Thailand, stay for a day or more, have some meetings, splash some cash, and off he goes again. Who knows, Thailand is a very porous country. He could be here already! Don't forget he has been in Cambodia, Singapore, HK in the last few weeks
