webfact Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 The future of motoring in Thailand is electric. That might seem hard to imagine just now but Thailand has gone full throttle on electric vehicles (EV). With the entry of Tesla and the rise of Chinese electric vehicle makers in Thailand, the choices for buyers have expanded, and the industry has witnessed substantial growth. Chinese automakers like Great Wall Motor, MG, BYD, and DFSK have introduced their EVs in Thailand at more affordable prices compared to foreign competitors. Great Wall Motor and BYD Co have even established production plants in the eastern province of Rayong, boosting the local EV manufacturing sector. KhunLA Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 More than a few inaccurate statements in that op-ed. Those that follow the EV or CS threads, probably already know how to find: ... PlugShare site .. Charge Loem app ... CS (AN thread) ... vendor apps, some listed in OP Are a few to locate & pay attention to details of CS, if buying EV. Some inaccurate statements I noted: ... 'all' MG dealers have chargers, most do, but not all have 'Super (fast) Chargers' ... most hotels have ... NO, not even close, and if so, slow chargers are the norm.
Dmitry2222 Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Today seen chargers on the Lotus parking. However did not find the data about charger power. Hope it was 80kw chargers, however looks as weak chargers.
richard_smith237 Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 As soon as I saw the title I thought this thread is an utter lightening rod for Khun LA... and there he is already !!!! Ribbing aside, the info from Khun LA is very handy for someone considering an E.V. 1
rwill Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 The small town I live in the PEA office's sign says they have an EV charging station. Perhaps look and see if your local office has one too.

Popular Post connda Posted August 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2023 I wonder how many days the average 1 day trip from BKK to CM will take once over 50% of the cars are EV? ???? 4

One would hope that they have enough EV chargers around to accommodate 50% of road users. So, for anyone staying overnight and charging at a hotel - no extra time whatsoever. For anyone making the journey in one go, it'll take 1 charge on the way (assuming most EV's have a range of at least 400 kms) - So, approximately 1 hour more than normal. Or... 'fast charging' up to 80% a couple of times on the way at 15mins per time.

Another 'what if' scenario, and we'll all be long gone before EVs hit 50%. You could probably just take the high speed monorail, instead of driving and be there in 2 hrs. You know ... what if ... ???? 1

Yea, I'm counting about 20 between the army base/palace & Khao Takiab on PlugShare All are not fast chargers, as I know the 'free' one at the restaurant is not. But if you can't find a CS in TH, you're not looking very hard. 1
