Does he have to provide reasons why he should get the royal clemency? Good behavior - fail. He is really sorry for his crimes - fail. He compensated the damaged parties - fail. He

  • I guess he's had enough of hospital food!

  • He will leave hospital for freedom in a wheelchair. The week after he will be secretly filmed playing badminton.

Nobody could be surprised.
He would never come back to Thailand without knowing that he will receive a pardon.
Is this really the way a democracy is supposed to act ?

Get off yer knees Mr Thaksin. Do yer time like a man.

He's not on his knees, everyone else is, to him.

The ' Old Pals Act.' Is alive and well in Thailand, everybody else that has a sentence has to serve a 3rd. of their sentence before being eligible for a Royal Pardon. Thai :Law,we'll see what happens, but I can assure you he won't be incarcerated longer

Before knowing that his wish would be granted, he never would have returned to Thailand ????????

As far as I know there is a procedure to follow, like if we apply for xyz.

First, we talk to the officer behind the counter. That officer looks first at the documents, and if there is something he doesn't like, then he won't accept it.

And if the initial guy thinks all is fine, then he gives it to his supervisor to check. And the list goes on.

Coming back to this case. Any such application will not be presented to the highest instance right away. There is a path to follow.

I'm surprised that you didn't say anything about the "hand-offs" required at each step (aka, envelopes. The higher up the ladder, the fatter they get)

And there it is! Hopefully this pantomine will now come to an end and we don't need to suffer all the orchestrated bull dust. Wonder what it actually cost him?

Once pardoned his red notices disappear and he can travel freely anywhere he wants. I think that was his motivation, not simply to be back in good old swampy.

He's a corrupt piece of shxt. Maybe the Thai people will get a clue now. The next election should be a landslide for the Move Forward party.

Nothing is more certain than Thaksin being pardoned in quick order.

Will criticism of the pardon be deemed a breach of 112?

Will criticism breach 112, YES.

an inmate is legally bound to have served a minimum of one-third of his or her convicted jail term before being officially considered whether to deserve royal pardon for which a time-consuming process will be taken.

There is the "officially considered legal process time taking" way of doing things

and then

There is the "unofficial corrupt prearranged privileged express service" way of doing things

Which way will prevail? (it's rhetorical...)

He might have had a chance of a pardon a few years ago but I don’t think much of his chances now, if he does gain his freedom he’ll need to keep looking in the rear vision mirror after selling out to the military. :crying:

There's no pretence anymore, everybody watching 'gets' Thailand now.

I always knew he didn't do it  ????

Surely a pardon is not a matter of a handshake?!

A total surprise, absolutely surprising. Who could possibly have guessed this would ever happen?

Capitalist democracy is like this everywhere. The rich get off scot-free and the poor go to jail for stealing bread.

The plan is moving along. The only hiccup was Pita and MFP and they have been dealt with albeit meaning PT jumped into bed with their enemies.

not in my country.

In the very unlikely event of him getting Royal Clemency, it would bring the Royal Institution into question. Strengthening MFP's proposal to reform it. And of course the accusations of double standards.

He was never spending more than the right amount of time in prison or a prison hospital than was necessary, if he knew he be locked up in a Thai prison for years he'd of never come back here lol

Probably you haven't noticed it.

Isn't Malibu in America? Well it certainly happens there, just look at the example of Hunter Biden, or the kid who killed 4 people in a car crash driving the wrong way on a highway, and got off (suspended sentence) because he was suffering from affluenza, and had never had to be accountable for his actions before (look it up, it's from Texas).

I doubt that MFP will have the opportunity to stand in the next election, or if they do the "reform" of the Senate (a previous post shows that the groundwork is being laid) will ensure again that they get nowhere.

Thaksin is by no means the only, and far from the most, corrupt influence in the system!
