Popular Post snoop1130 Posted September 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2023 A one-eyed stray puppy in Thailand has become the millionth animal to be neutered and vaccinated by animal welfare organization Soi Dog Foundation. Aptly named Millionth, the homeless puppy was taken in by one of the foundation's mobile sterilization teams after she was found on the streets of Nakhon Si Thammarat, and soon after became the millionth animal to pass through its large-scale spay/neuter and vaccination program since its founding in 2003. It is the first time in history that this number of stray animals has been neutered and vaccinated by a single organization. sidjameson Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Anybody know if this actually results in less strays? 1
Popular Post Gottfrid Posted September 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2023 Well done, and less strays????? Can´t we just have a KDF (Kill Dog Foundation). The only thing these dogs are creating is problems and stupid people feeding them. 8 1 1 2
Popular Post daveAustin Posted September 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 8, 2023 Good work but x100 to sort Thailand's embarrassing stray dog issue. Do the same with the urban monkeys. All on the army for not getting to grips with it. Nothing smacks more loudly than third world (which it ain’t) than feral animals roaming the streets. 2 3 2
hotchilli Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 The millionth of something usually gets a nice gift.. Already missing one eye she should have been named unlucky.

RichardColeman Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Wonder how many of these 1 million dogs have gone on to bite people and how much compensation to the victims the soi dog foundation paid out to the victims ! Seems like a save the dog to hell with the people to me 1 2
mikebell Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 A million done but three million left. I am sure the relatives of all those killed by strays causing road accidents will applaud this achievement. 1

He ran into a scooter. The driver was wearing a helmet but it wasn't strapped. It flew off, he went OTB, and he died.

I've had two step-daughters brought off their motor bikes by dogs; only one was hospitalised. 1 1

Humpy Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Won't stop them crapping all over the pavements !
nobodysfriend Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 At least , THEY do something to reduce the number of soi dogs . They don't only talk and complain . The dog haters here should support them . What they do significantly reduces the number of strays . But killing , culling , poisoning dogs with antifreeze or rat poison etc , seems to be so fashionable to some posters here on this forum . Sorry for their kids , if they have any ... 1 1
G Rex Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 13 hours ago, sidjameson said: Anybody know if this actually results in less strays? Desexing programs work well to reduce unplanned breeding in the Western world, where there are very few uncontrolled ferals and strays. I am referring to US, UK and Australia here. In Thailand, where the feral/stray population is so huge - this program will only make a small dent in dog numbers - and should be seen more as a PR exercise. Yes - it is better than nothing - but not much. 1

We will agree to disagree on this one. Also - killing or culling of dogs as you mentioned above - could be viewed as being performed to protect their kids... 1 1

sidneybear Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Soi dogs are aggressive and dangerous pests. They should be rounded up and destroyed. 2 1

I used too until I saw the fleet of New Pajeros with the Soi Dog Foundation on them, I now support TMWRD Foundation. I am neither a dog lover nor hater, but believe in my money going toward the purpose, not so someone has a nice car to ride around in. Peace

jvs Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 The stray dog problem can be fixed in as little as 5 years but no one seemt to look for a permanent solution.

I used to come here with the same knucklehead attitude to dogs displayed in this thread and the dogs knew it and many unnecessary actions ensured. Now I come here minus the knucklehead attitude and instead an open happy mindset and get on well with the soi dogs. And considering I do a 2 hour walk most mornings through the soi's I get to meet many dogs even the packs and alls sweet. Only place I will never go is through a temple narrow gate early nornings or evenings without other people about as the dogs in there are doing their night watch job. As for the one off dog on human tragedies for people to direct their own insecurities of Thai dogs, they happen in western countries too. 1

And which western country is it that you come from that allows wild dogs to roam the streets then? You're fibbing. 2
thailand49 Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Great job! Sadly not enough since 2003, for every dog that has been neutered ten more are born that isn't so their are millions to go talking about endless! ????
