Hi,

Can you help me with 2 things: is there a Chiang Mai forum now? & in Ch Mai, can I find a fresh vegetable market outdoors, where vegetables aren't in packs? Thanks

There are open markets all over Chiang Mai where you can find fresh meat and vegetables that usually are priced by the kg... some are Sunday only markets but I shop at the Saraphi everyday market and the products are fresher and less expensive than Makro or BigC

They are all over town, check your local area.

South, SE quadrant; Chiang Mai Gate market in the morning, Kad Kom, in the evening. As this is Wednesday there will be a afternoon market at Plaza 89 on the CM Lamphun RD. A happening place. You can stop at Bakemart coop on the way down, Nana Bakery when there, shop for veggees, & have a meal at one of the restaurants.

Like the plaza 89 market described above ; open Monday & Wednesday, the Sailomjoy mrkt by the Mengrai Anuson bridge is open Tuesday and Thursday.. Get out and support your local small markets.

Try looking for forums first.

There are vegetable markets everywhere but much of the product is commercially traded goods. Do not expect local crops to be "Organic". The farmers know all about fertilizers and pesticides.

Opposite the US consulate.

AKA, kad mai…the big one, has just about everything

The harder challenge would be traveling further than 1km in Chiang Mai and not finding a wet market - they're everywhere, including in the outer metro area.
